CAREER COUNSELING FOR CLASS X

Day/Date: Friday, 30th August, 2024

A Career Counseling workshop was conducted at DPS Dwarka for tenth-grade students. The session, held in the school's auditorium, was led by Mr. Alok Bansal a professional from Realecole Pvt. Limited. He is a Career Counselor with more than 20 years of experience. Mr. Bansal has been widely recognised as a thought leader in the test prep space.
The purpose of the workshop was to  help students start preparing early, giving them a competitive edge. The session aimed at guiding students about the vast array of career opportunities available to them. Students got an early understanding of international education systems, cultures, and opportunities, broadening their worldview and preparing them for future global challenges. Furthermore, students learnt about scholarships and financial aid options, making the idea of studying abroad more accessible to those concerned about costs.
Conclusion: Exposure to the idea of studying abroad can foster independence, adaptability, and confidence in students, qualities essential for personal and academic success. The workshop was organised to offer valuable insights and networking opportunities to our students.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY 2024

Day/Dates: 26th August 2024 to 30th August 2024

Delhi Public School, Dwarka celebrated National Sports Day 2024 from 26th August 2024 to 30th August 2024. A total of 1,800 students from classes VI to XII participated in the Fit India Pledge, committing to an active and healthy lifestyle.
In addition to the pledge, a series of sports activities and competitions were organized, including basketball, cricket, and volleyball. These events were designed to engage students in physical exercise, promote teamwork, and foster sportsmanship. The week-long celebration effectively emphasized the importance of fitness and provided students with numerous opportunities to participate in sports and physical activities.

FELICITATION CEREMONY

Day/Date: Friday, 23 August 2024

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised Felicitation Ceremony on Friday, 23 August 2024. This event marked the formal induction of young leaders into their roles of responsibility and service, which they will dutifully uphold throughout the year. The occasion also served as a moment of great pride for 45 scholars of Class XII as they were decorated with gold medals for their academic excellence over a span of seven consecutive years. All high achievers from Classes XI and XII were felicitated for their outstanding academic performance.

The occasion was graced by Dr. Kiran Datar, Chairperson, DPS Dwarka as the esteemed Chief Guest and Mr. Shalesh Kumar, SDM, Dwarka as the Guest of Honour.

The ceremony commenced on an auspicious note with the lighting of the lamp. A cultural medley ensued, starting with a harmonious overture by the School Band, followed by a soulful rendition by the school choir. The highlight of the programme was an intellectually stimulating talk show on ‘Hope & Belief: Attributes of a Great Leader' presented by the students of Class XI.

Ms. Priya Narayanan, Principal, Delhi Public School, Dwarka, congratulated the Gold Medalists, the Scholar Badge recipients and the School Appointees. She urged the School Cabinet to remember that leadership is not just about titles or badges. It is about service, dedication, and leading by example.

In his address, Mr. Shalesh Kumar praised the students for their hard work and dedication, congratulating them on their achievements. He encouraged them to carry forward the lessons learned at school, emphasizing that these experiences and values will be their guiding light in the future.

Dr. Datar congratulated the Scholars and Student Leaders, recognizing their achievements. She reminded them of the honour and responsibility that comes with their roles, urging them to uphold the school's traditions and values. Calling them the face of the school, she encouraged them to make it an even better place, leaving a positive legacy for the future. After her address, the Chief Guest conferred badges and sashes on the appointees. She then administered the oath to the newly constituted cabinet.

 The Head Girls, Tanushree Kumar, Ishya Kaushal and Alika Gupta along with the Head Boys, Srijan Maity, Parth Tomar and Shaurya Bansal proposed the Vote of Thanks on behalf of the entire Student Council. They conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the school and their parents for entrusting them with responsibility and nurturing their self-belief. The ceremony was witnessed by the proud parents of the young office bearers and those honoured for their academic prowess.

SPECTRUM-MÉLANGE: THE ANNUAL FEST 2024

DPS Dwarka organised the mega Inter School event, SPECTRUM-MÉLANGE - The Annual Fest 2024 on Saturday, 17 August 2024. Around 2500 participants from 32 renowned schools of Delhi and NCR participated in this fest.
A multitude of innovative and interesting competitions were organised by various Clubs which provided the children with the finest of educational opportunities and helped them exhibit their talent. Participants showcased their brilliance across various disciplines including Science, Math, Computer Science, Art, Music, Dance, Sports and much more. With a total of 66 captivating online and on-site events, every student got an opportunity to exhibit his/ her forte.
It was a great platform for the students to engage with peers from different schools, exchange ideas and expand their horizons. Every corner of the school was abuzz with activities like Debates, Plays, Symposium, Jingles, Mathemosaic, Quiz, Robosoccer, Cricket to name a few. The fest aimed to foster healthy competition, knowledge-sharing and camaraderie among the brightest of minds.
The team from DPS NOIDA, SECTOR 30 was the OVERALL WINNER of the event. The Second Position was jointly bagged by DPS DWARKA and DPS ROHINI. The Third Position was secured by DPS FARIDABAD, SECTOR 19.
Ms. Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka appreciated and acknowledged the enthusiasm of all the participants and the organising teams.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS PROGRAMME

CLASSES: VI to XII

Delhi Public School, Dwarka, took a significant step towards fostering a culture of disaster preparedness by organizing a comprehensive awareness programme on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. The programme, designed for students from Classes VI to XII, was the first of a series of such initiatives planned to be conducted bi-monthly. The primary objective was to equip students with essential knowledge and skills to respond effectively to various disasters.
Through engaging activities such as PowerPoint Presentations and Quizzes, the programme focuses on sensitizing learners to potential hazards and imparting crucial do's and don'ts. By adopting a fun and interactive approach, the school aims to create a lasting impact on students' understanding of disaster management.

COUNSELOR CONNECT: IN PERSON WORKSHOP

The DPS society organised 'Counselor Connect: In person workshop' on Monday, 29 July 2024 at the American Center, New Delhi for the teachers and the counselors from various Delhi Public Schools. The workshop aimed at providing information about the University admissions abroad and equip the delegates with much needed information and support. Ms. Hema Joshi, Academic Counsellor, Dr. Suman Dagur, PGT English and Ms. Smritika Saggi, Senior Counsellor attended the workshop.
The workshop began with a welcome address by Mr. David M, PD officer, US Embassy and Dolly Chanana, Jt. Director, DPS society. The first session by Ms. Ambikaa Kaul, Counselor, College Access Program talked about the objectives of CAP, unconventional careers, third party protocol , school policies , and the ongoing support groups that can help the teachers and Counsellors to guide the students about the career path they can follow and the universities that offer admissions. A session by Ms. Bhavna J and Astha on 'Writing Impactful LoRs in a post covid/ AI world' gave a detailed analysis of how an LOR should be written by the teachers and counselors . The session on 'Sustainable Future' threw light on the sustainable world that UNEP aims to build. The session titled 'Elevating Your School Profile' by Naghma Khan, Head of College Advisory, DPS Interational, Gurgaon, highlighted the importance of School Profile and the need to update it regularly to help students get admission in foreign universities. Mr. Kartik Hariharan facilitated this session.
The Counselor Connect In-Person workshop was highly informative, offering valuable insights and practical strategies. Overall, it was a beneficial and enriching experience for all attendees.

WORLD NATURE CONSERVATION DAY

CLASSES: VI-VIII

On Friday, 26 July 2024, DPS Dwarka organized a series of engaging activities for Classes VI to VIII to promote environmental awareness and conservation. The activities were conducted during the 9th period (Class Teacher Period) and were tailored to the different age groups as follows:
Class VI:
Students created vibrant collages using photographs that they clicked themselves capturing the beauty of nature. This activity aimed to foster an appreciation for natural beauty and highlight the importance of preserving it.
Class VII:
Students engaged in a hands-on project to make reusable bags from newspapers or other papers. This activity was designed to reduce plastic waste and encourage sustainable practices among the students.
Class VIII
A debate was held on the topic, "The Role of Government vs Individual Responsibility in Nature Conservation Efforts." This activity provided a platform for students to discuss and understand the different perspectives on environmental conservation, enhancing their critical thinking and public speaking skills.
These activities were part of DPS Dwarka’s commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious and responsible citizens. The students' participation reflected their enthusiasm and awareness regarding nature conservation.

ROAD SAFETY AND NORMS

CLASSES: V, IX, XI & XII
Day/Date: Tuesday. 16 July 2024

DPS Dwarka organized a workshop on Tuesday, 16 July 2024 on the topic ‘Road Safety Norms’ for the students of classes V, IX, XI & XII in the school auditorium. The workshop was conducted by S.I. Ms. Savita and S.I. Ms. Veena from Delhi Traffic Police Department. They screened a video on Road Safety Norms in their Motor Vehicle Van. They also explained the mandatory Road Signs, Warnings, and other road safety measures which should be followed by every individual.
The followings points were covered in the workshop:

1. Safety of children on road.
2. Safe school transportation.
3. Walking on road.
4. Riding a two-wheeler (Importance of good quality helmet).
5. Driving a car.
6. Travelling by bus.
7. Avoid road rage, coexist peacefully on roads.
8. Negotiating an intersection.
9. Driving in adverse weather (during rain).
10. Avoiding traffic violations.

The session was highly informative and interactive.

NIE WORKSHOP ON SCIENCE BEHIND THE TEEN BRAIN

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organized a workshop on the topic ‘Science Behind the Teen Brain’ on Wednesday, 10 July 2024. The resource person of the workshop was  Ms. Jayshree Mehta. The session aimed to shed light on the fascinating neurological developments occurring during adolescence.

She skilfully guided the students through an interactive exploration of the teenage brain. Ms. Mehta’s insightful presentation encompassed both the positive and negative influences of social media on teenagers. She explored various online platforms teens utilize discussing the potential drawbacks and importantly, the positive aspects of responsible social media use. The workshop proved to be resounding success, effectively equipping students with a deeper understanding of their own developing brains.

NIE WORKSHOP ON EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE EQ VS IQ AND EMPATHY

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organized a workshop on the topic ‘Emotional Intelligence EQ vs IQ and Empathy’ on Wednesday, 10 July 2024. The resource person of the workshop was Ms. Jayshree Mehta.

The focal point of the workshop was emotional intelligence, highlighting its significance in understanding both self and others. The resource person explored concepts such as sympathy, empathy and the science of children's emotions offering practical strategies for comprehension and effective handling. The workshop was interactive, featuring engaging activities where participants stepped into each other’s shoes.  The workshop proved to be enlightening and motivating for the students.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGH YOGA

“Yoga is not for only one – it’s for everyone,
Yoga is not for a day – it’s for every day.”

In consonance with this ancient wisdom, Delhi Public School, Dwarka, orchestrated comprehensive online and offline Yoga sessions on  Friday, 21 June 2024, in celebration of International Yoga Day. This all-encompassing event fostered a spirit of camaraderie and holistic well-being within the entire school fraternity. Students from Classes I - XII, along with the parents, teaching, administrative and support staff, participated in designated slots from 7:15 am to 8:50 am.

Yoga transcends the realm of mere physical exercise; it is a multifaceted practice that invigorates the body, mind, and soul. Consistent yoga practice is well-documented to augment flexibility, strength, and posture, while concomitantly mitigating stress, bolstering concentration, and promoting overall well-being. This session served as a magnificent platform to collectively cultivate these advantages as a unified school community.

The sessions commenced with a series of gentle warm-up exercises, incorporating efficacious breathing techniques, wrist rotations, and targeted stretches for the neck. This was followed by a meticulously curated sequence of fundamental asanas, such as Tadasana (Mountain Pose), Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend), and side-bending exercises – all of which can be effortlessly incorporated into daily routines to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The resounding success of this session underscores the school’s unwavering commitment to nurturing a culture of holistic well-being amongst its students and staff.

TIME MANAGEMENT

About the workshop:

On Monday, 27 May 2024, a workshop on "TIME MANAGEMENT" was conducted at Delhi Public School, Dwarka. The session was led by Mr. Jitin Chawla, one of the most influential career counsellors in Delhi.
The rationale of the workshop was to help students balance academic responsibilities, extracurricular activities, and their personal life. The workshop was highly engaging and started with an ice-breaker activity. It was a one-hour session involving students reflecting on their time schedules and equipping them with ways to utilize their time, especially at home. The session emphasized the importance of eliminating distractions, delegating tasks, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. He highlighted the importance of attending camps or internships. Furthermore, he shared ways to set realistic goals and maximize productivity.
The session ended with students sharing their doubts and benefitting from the insightful workshop.

Conclusion:

Overall, the workshop on time management was engaging and vital for effectively managing their time, paving the way for future success and a well-rounded, fulfilling life.

THE SCOPE OF HISTORY

The History department of Delhi Public School, Dwarka  hosted an interactive session for the students of class XI students on 17 May 2024. The sessions titled ‘The Scope of History and Archaeology’ aimed to introduce students to the importance of tracing our past and to explore career opportunities around history.

Ms. Shreya Hari Nurani, Ms. Shambhavi Sharma and Mr. Vikramaditya Jha, our school alumni, led the sessions.They delved into the interdisciplinary aspects and scope of studying history and emphasised how it is not just about dates or rote learning but also caters to a variety of subjects, even from science and commerce backgrounds. The workshop also shed light on the wide range of specialisations and promising career prospects within archaeology like heritage management and museum curation.

The workshop underscored the importance of preserving our past and using these insights to contextualise the present and navigate the future. The speakers emphasised that curiosity, keen observation, hard work and attention to detail are essential qualities for archaeologists, historians and students alike.

Students found the session encouraging and motivating.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT

DPS Dwarka organized an Entrepreneurship Development workshop for the students of classes IX & XI on 16 May 2024 in the school auditorium. The purpose was to introduce a mindset and traits of an Entrepreneur among the young scholars.
With the logo of “Learn & Earn”, the resource person explained the relevance of skill based education in a candid manner. He also discussed the myths and realities about entrepreneurship. He emphatically reinforced on how building a network is an essential seed for entrepreneurial mind.
Identifying the sectors of growth should be the stepping stone in the path of entrepreneurship. He enlightened the students about how and from where skills should be acquired. In a very concise and precise way, he concluded the significance of venturing the innovative endeavours as the need of the hour.
The workshop was immensely enjoyed and appreciated by the young learners and they realized that every skill we acquire doubles our chances of success.

NIE WORKSHOP ON SPELL O FUN

Introduction:

The workshop on ‘Spell O Fun’ was organized by Ms. Jayshree Mehta for Class 6 students that aimed to enhance their language skills by focusing on expanding their vocabulary. The session was designed to be interactive and engaging, providing students with practical tools and strategies to improve their word usage and comprehension.
Workshop Highlights:

The highlight of the workshop was various techniques like Word games, Contextual learning & Thematic approach. Silent letter words were used to introduce vocabulary and expose students to a wide range of words. Students were given real-life scenarios where they can use the newly acquired words, allowing them to grasp the meaning and usage of the words effectively. 
Conclusion:

‘Spell O Fun’ for Class 6 students was a successful event that aimed to enhance language skills in an engaging and effective manner. By incorporating interactive activities, contextual learning, and thematic approaches, the workshop provided students with valuable tools to expand their vocabulary and improve their language proficiency.
The student’s active participation and enthusiasm during the workshop indicated a positive response, and it is expected that the skills they gained will contribute to their overall language development. Continued support and reinforcement of vocabulary learning will undoubtedly yield long-term benefits for the student’s academic and personal growth.

FINE ARTS WORKSHOP

CLASS: XI
Day/Date: Monday, 13th May 2024

The workshop on Fine Arts catered specifically to Class 11 students, aiming to ignite their creativity and storytelling abilities using unconventional materials. Held at the School Auditorium, the event welcomed approximately 200 eager students, providing a platform for exploration and expression through the medium of newspaper collages. Rhe workshop was conducted in association with OP Jindal University, Sonipat.

Introduction to Newspaper Collage Art:
Facilitators Dr. Achia Anzi and Priyesh Gothwal guided students through the process of developing narratives using images sourced from newspapers. Students brainstormed ideas, crafted storylines, and identified key elements to convey through their collage compositions.

Collage Creation:
In this hands-on session, students put their storytelling skills into practice, creating collages that visually conveyed their chosen narratives.Armed with scissors, glue, and stacks of newspapers, participants meticulously selected and arranged images to bring their stories to life on paper.

Conclusion:
Under the guidance of experienced facilitators, students delved into the art of storytelling using unconventional materials, producing visually compelling narratives. The workshop not only provided a platform for artistic exploration but also encouraged students to think critically and express themselves creatively.

FINDING YOUR IKIGAI

On Thursday, 09 May 2024, Kriti Chaudhary, an alumni of DPS Dwarka, delivered an enriching talk captivating the audience of class 11th students with her inspiring journey. As a former science student, Kriti's career trajectory exemplifies the pursuit of passion and the exploration of unconventional paths. She demonstrated excellence in her studies, laying a strong foundation for her future endeavors. Despite her background in science, Kriti harbored a deep-seated passion for textiles and the rich cultural tapestry of India.
After completing her education, Kriti made the bold decision to diverge from the traditional path of pursuing engineering and instead followed her heart towards the world of textiles. Her transition from a science background to a career in textiles exemplifies courage and determination in pursuing one's true calling.
Kriti's talk left an indelible impression on the audience, igniting a sense of inspiration and possibility among the students. Her story serves as a beacon of hope for those who dare to defy conventions and carve out their unique paths in life. By embracing her passion for textiles, Kriti not only found fulfillment but also became a trailblazer, showcasing the endless possibilities that await those who dare to dream.
One of the highlights of the session was the interactive question and answer session, where students eagerly posed questions to Kriti. Her responses were insightful and offered practical and thought provoking guidance.

EMBRACING ECO-CONSCIOUSNESS

CLASS: IX
Day/Date: Thursday, 9 May 2024

Today's assembly, presented by the students of Class IX, prepared by the Geography Department, was a poignant reflection on the urgent need for eco-consciousness. The assembly aimed to raise awareness about the importance of responsible stewardship of our planet's resources and to inspire action towards creating a cleaner and greener world for future generations.

The assembly commenced with a solemn prayer led by our esteemed Principal Madam, setting a contemplative tone for the proceedings. Following the prayer, mementos were presented to our Principal ma’am, Vice Principal ma’am, and Headmistress ma’am.

Throughout the assembly, students showcased their talent and dedication to the cause of environmental conservation. From thought-provoking reflections on the day's theme to a beautifully composed poem celebrating the beauty of nature, each presentation left a lasting impact on the audience. The highlight of the assembly was a stirring rendition of Sanskrit Shlokas, urging Mother Earth to bless humankind and emphasizing our collective responsibility towards environmental preservation.

The assembly concluded with a talk show on energy conservation and urging everyone to step up and take action for the betterment of our planet, followed by the harmonious singing of the National Anthem. The assembly was a resounding success, leaving the audience inspired and motivated to embrace eco-consciousness in their daily lives.

SCHOLAR BADGE CEREMONY

Delhi Public School, Dwarka hosted the Scholar Badge Ceremony on Wednesday, 8 May 2024, to felicitate the scholars of classes VI(A-E) & VII for their academic achievements during the session 2023-24. Dr. Nandini Choudhury Sen, Member, Managing Committee, DPS Dwarka, was the distinguished Chief Guest for the occasion.

The programme began with an enchanting band performance followed by the auspicious lighting of the lamp, evoking the blessings of the Almighty. The mellifluous rendition by the school choir, left the audience in wonderment. The highlight of the cultural programme were the Talk Shows on the topics ‘The Path to Success- Embracing Hard Work’ & ‘Achieving Goals’ presented by the students of classes VI & VII respectively. It motivated the young scholars to work diligently towards their goals.

The Principal, Ms. Priya Narayanan, expressed her pride in the triumph of the young achievers and encouraged them to move forward with determination to attain greater heights in the years to come.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Nandini Choudhury Sen, Member, Managing Committee, DPS Dwarka, in her address, applauded and praised the Scholar Badge recipients and emphasised the importance of holding hands together as a team in pursuit of attaining excellence. Dr. Sen inspired students to push themselves forward until they reach their goal and added that it is not only the responsibility of students but also of the parents to actively incorporate the teachings imparted by the school.

This was followed by the Scholar Badge Ceremony, wherein the students were felicitated for their praiseworthy performance in the previous academic session. The proud parents appreciated the school for acknowledging the sincere efforts and academic achievements of their wards.

DATA INTERPRETATION AND LOGICAL REASONING WORKSHOP

CLASSES: XI & XII

A DILR (Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning) workshop was conducted on 07 May 2024, in the school auditorium for the students of classes XI & XII (all sections).

The resource person, Mr. Shubham Kumar, is an educationist with more than 10 years of experience. He believes that the moment a student is visualizing a problem, he is solving it.

DILR is a critical section of all entrance exams. This section is common to many National, State level and University level entrance exams.  

Students were made to understand that not only are the DILR questions difficult but are also tricky and time-consuming. Their performance in DILR can make or break the chances of cracking the entrance test. The workshop taught the students shortcut methods to solve the DILR problems.   

Overall it was an informative workshop, where students participated enthusiastically in solving various DILR questions.

SCHOLAR BADGE CEREMONY

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised the Scholar Badge Ceremony on Friday, 3 May 2024 to felicitate the young scholars of class VIII for their exemplary academic performance during the year 2023-24. Ms. Vrinda Sarup, Member, Managing Committee, DPS Dwarka, was the esteemed Chief Guest gracing the occasion.

The event began with a scintillating band performance, setting a vibrant tone and energizing the audience.  This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp to mark the auspicious beginning of the event. Thereafter, a melodious choir performance captivated the audience, creating an ambience of celebration and joy.

Ms. Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka extended a warm welcome to all the guests. In her address, the Principal applauded the diligent efforts of the students and reiterated the pivotal role of parents in the student’s overall development.

The highlight of the cultural programme was a motivating talk show presented by the students of class VIII on the topic 'The Mantras of Success’, emphasizing the virtues of self-faith and determination.

Ms. Vrinda Sarup, Member, Managing Committee, DPS Dwarka, encouraged and motivated the young achievers with her words of wisdom and motivated the students to keep performing better. She highlighted the significance of reading and honing important life skills for attaining success in life. Delhi Public School, Dwarka hosted the Scholar Badge Ceremony on Tuesday, 30th April 2024, to felicitate the scholars of class X for their academic achievements for the session 2023-24. Dr. Kiran Datar, Chairperson, DPS Dwarka, was the esteemed Chief Guest for the occasion.

The ceremony commenced with a melodious orchestra performing ‘Raag Yaman’. The sparkling melody embodied the spirit of peace and happiness. After the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, a soulful rendition of ‘Leaving Imprints’ by the School Choir transported the audience to a musical cosmos. The highlight of the day was an inspiring Talk Show, instilling the significance of dreams and setting goals, presented by the students of class X, on the topic ‘Dare to Dream’.

Ms Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka, expressed her pride in the achievements of the young scholars and encouraged them to continue the persistent hard work and efforts in the years to follow.

Dr. Kiran Datar, Chairperson, DPS Dwarka, in her address, congratulated the recipients and highlighted the significance of excellence in life. She emphasised on the role of parents in nurturing their children with love and faith, enabling them to achieve success in future.

This was followed by the ceremony wherein the students were felicitated for their meritorious performance in the past year. The proud parents wholeheartedly appreciated the school for acknowledging their children’s diligent efforts and academic excellence.

ROBOTICS ORIENTATION SESSION

CLASS: VI

A workshop was conducted by the members of Robodex Club for class VI students on Tuesday, 30 April 2024. Under the guidance of teachers, senior members of the club conducted the orientation session. A presentation was showcased briefing about the club activities followed by a PPT and video on how to construct a wired robotic car.

The highlight of the session was a live demonstration of a robotic car.

The enthusiasm and excitement of the young technocrats in the making was immense.

CLASS TRIP TO THE NATIONAL MUSEUM

CLASS: VI
Dates: 23, 24 and 25 April 2024

The History Department of DPS Dwarka organized an educational trip to the National Museum for its students of class VI. The guided tour began with the conductor explaining the details of sculpture of Suryadeva, standing tall in the central foyer. Thereafter the groups moved to the famous Harappan gallery which quite literally brought the civilization back to life for the students. With its array of exhibits, ranging from gigantic vases to the petite figurine of the ‘Dancing Girl’, students were enthralled by the artefacts. Students were informed of the burial practices of the Harappans with a special mention for the skeletal remains of a woman from the site of Rakhigarhi.

The Mauryan, Shunga and Gupta period sculptures and terracotta pieces were truly marvelous, displaying acute artistry of the anonymous crafters. The significance of Gautam Buddha in Indian history is evident with the numerous busts and full form statues recovered from excavations, some of which were on display. Students were shown the minute differences in the Gandhara and Mathura schools of art evident through the statues. A detailed description of the Standing Buddha, made in grey schist stone was given to the students. Some of the Chola bronze statues, with their incredible detailing are worth mentioning. Students were explained how the statues were crafted using the ‘Lost Wax Technique’.  The bronze Nataraja was particularly liked by all.

The Buddhist Art Section housed the Sacred Relics of Buddha excavated from Piprahwa in Uttar Pradesh. Students were excited to see the bone fragments of Gautam Buddha preserved within the golden pavilion.

The Miniature Paintings gallery was also interesting for the students as they marvelled at the finesse of the painters. These paintings belonging to major styles such as Mughal, Deccani, Rajasthani, Pahari were made on palm leaves, cloth etc. and highlighted the desire of the people to be immortalised through art. The massive Sleeping Vishnu within the rotunda, was particularly liked for its unique sculptural style.

The collection of Mughal coins was also enjoyed by the students as they were excited to see an array of metal currencies at display. They were also explained the process by which coins were minted. Some students expressed amazement at learning that the earliest form of currency were cowrie shells! As a true culmination to this exciting journey, our young learners were shown a short documentary on the significance of Stupas across the world. 

Students were accompanied by their Social Science teachers who highlighted specific points relevant to their chapters. The trip was beneficial as students got an opportunity to visualise the knowledge they gained from books and understand the glorious history of Bharat.

WORKSHOP ON NEW AGE CAREERS

CLASS:  XII

On 25th April 2024, a workshop on "New Age Careers" was conducted at Delhi Public School Dwarka. The session was led by Mr. Krishna from Pearl Academy and Ms. Aparna from UPES.
The workshop was highly engaging, with an enthusiastic audience eager to explore new opportunities in the evolving job market. Participants were treated to a wealth of new information about emerging career paths and trends in various industries. Mr. Krishna and Ms. Aparna facilitated a dynamic session, encouraging active participation from the audience. Attendees were divided into groups based on their academic streams, allowing for tailored discussions and insights relevant to their interests and backgrounds. Throughout the workshop, attendees were actively engaged in brainstorming sessions, exchanging ideas, and exploring potential career paths aligned with their skills and aspirations.
The workshop proved to be not only informative but also inspiring, as attendees left with a clearer understanding of the diverse opportunities available in the modern workforce.
Conclusion:
Overall, the workshop on New Age Careers was a resounding success, leaving participants equipped with valuable insights and a renewed sense of enthusiasm for their future endeavors.

"CELEBRATING AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH"

Introduction:

In the month of April 24, DPS Dwarka organized classroom activities to commemorate Autism Awareness Month. Students from classes 6 to 10 engaged in educational experiences to understand and empathize with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Activities Conducted:

Activities included a quiz session, classroom discussions, poster making competition, and Power Point presentations.

Outcomes:

• Increased awareness and understanding of autism.
• Enhanced empathy and inclusivity in the school community.
• Promotion of creativity and self-expression.

Conclusion:

DPS Dwarka's celebration of Autism Awareness Month reaffirmed its commitment to diversity and inclusion. Through engaging activities, students gained knowledge, empathy, and advocacy skills. MOCK FIRE EVACUATION DRILL

CLASSES: PRE-SCHOOL TO XII
Day/Date: Friday, 19 April, 2024

A Mock Fire Evacuation Drill was conducted by Delhi Public School, Dwarka on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 8:37 am, which aimed at preparing 2731 students, from Pre-School to class XII, for potential fire emergencies. The Physical Education Department efficiently coordinated the evacuation process from both the junior and senior school premises.

Students were safely evacuated and assembled in open areas. Comprehensive instructions regarding proper procedures during a fire emergency were imparted to the students, including guidance on the use of fire extinguishers.

The mock drill proved to be highly successful, with the entire school building being evacuated in precisely 4 minutes and 30 seconds. All 2731 students actively participated in the drill, ensuring readiness for any future fire exigencies.

ASSEMBLY: ODE TO MOTHER EARTH

The fight to save the place we all call home is ongoing and overwhelming. Still, we can all do our part to show Mother Earth the love she deserves.
Today's assembly was presented by 22 students from class 11th, under the guidance of the Biology Department.

Centered around the therapeutic concept of reconnecting with the earth's energetic frequency, the assembly echoed a compelling slogan advocating for the preservation of Mother Nature.  A band of 5 students serenaded the audience with a soulful song dedicated to Mother Earth, setting a poignant tone for the assembly. Following this, a scintillating dance performance on the concept of 'Panch Bhuta', representing the five elements of earth, mesmerized the audience with its grace and symbolism.

With unwavering dedication, students diligently prepared and delivered an enlightening Morning Assembly, celebrating the essence of Earth Day and inspiring mindfulness towards our environment.

FELICITATION CEREMONY OF MVPP SCHOLARS

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organized a special felicitation ceremony on Friday, 12 April 2024, to honour the outstanding scholars of the Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha (MVPP), conducted by the Science Branch of the Directorate of Education in Delhi on Sunday, 10 December 2023.
The elated parents of the fifteen scholars, who successfully qualified the esteemed examination, were invited to join the school in celebrating the success of the students.
Ms. Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka, extended her heartfelt congratulations to the parents and encouraged the students to reflect on their journey that led them to this momentous occasion. She emphasized the importance of such examinations and reiterated the school's steadfast commitment to providing comprehensive support to the students in their pursuit of academic excellence and the realization of their aspirations. ORIENTATION FOR CLASS XI

The orientation for Class 11 commenced in the school auditorium with a warm welcome by the Class Representatives.  Class Rep – Ms. Soni Saxena and the Co-Rep - Ms. Geetika Manish Puri took the initiative to apprise the students about various important aspects related to examinations, school policies, disciplinary measures, school uniform guidelines, exam patterns, and encouragement of excellence through awards.
Students were greeted and ushered into the new session with enthusiasm and anticipation.
Introduction to Streams and Career Opportunities:
Ms. Puja Sehgal elucidated primarily on the science stream. Through informative videos featuring accomplished alumni, she shed light on the plethora of career opportunities within the science domain. Students were inspired by the success stories and gained insights into the diverse avenues awaiting exploration.
Furthermore, attention was drawn towards the realm of commerce by Ms. Sapna Sharma, where the students were acquainted with the wide array of career prospects with regards to commerce stream. The discussion highlighted the significance of commerce in today's dynamic world and encouraged students to explore different combinations within this stream. Finally, students were briefed about the Humanities stream by Mr. Nisheeth Kumar and Ms. Jasmeet Kaur highlighting its relevance and the multitude of opportunities
Interactive Session:
The orientation concluded with an interactive session taken by Ms. Smritika, the School Councellor involved all the students, wherein students had the opportunity to seek clarifications and guidance regarding their academic journey ahead. Queries pertaining to subject combinations, career pathways, and extracurricular activities were addressed, fostering a sense of clarity and confidence among the students.
Overall, the orientation served as an enlightening platform for students to embark on their academic voyage with clarity and purpose.It provided valuable insights into the various streams and instilled a sense of motivation to pursue excellence in their chosen path.

This thought resonates deeply with the theme for today's assembly - 'Magic of Mother Nature'. Nature, in all its grandeur and subtlety, has always been a source of inspiration and wonder for humanity. It teaches us patience, resilience, and the beauty of simplicity. The intricate ecosystems, breathtaking landscapes, and the delicate balance of life serve as a reminder of the miracles that surround us every day.
Today's assembly was meticulously orchestrated by 25 students of class 9 under the guidance of the Biology Department. They delved deeper into this enchanting theme, tapping into the inspiration offered by nature's mesmerizing wonders by reciting two poignant poems (Hindi & English), and presenting a thoughtprovoking talk-show. Additionally, they solemnly pledged to advocate for environmental conservation and the prohibition of single-use plastic.
The Principal congratulated the 15 achievers of the Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha (MVPP), formerly known as JSTSE, conducted on Sunday, 10 December 2023. These students were honored on stage for their outstanding accomplishment in securing this prestigious scholarship, thereby bringing great pride to the school.

EDUCATIONAL TOUR: PURANA QILA AND NATIONAL MUSEUM

On Tuesday, 19 March 2024, DPS Dwarka's history department took humanities and history club students on a learning adventure! The trip included exploring Purana Qila and the National Museum.
At Purana Qila, guided by Ms. Vaishnavi Singh and Ms. Nanki Kaur from INTACH, students learnt about the different sections of the fort. They saw the three grand entrances (darwaza), the Qila-i-Kuhna Mosque, the royal bath (Hamam), Sher Mandal, and the Baoli (stepwell). The on-site museum offered a glimpse into the fort's history with artifacts from various periods. They even saw the ongoing excavations maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India.
Next stop: the National Museum in Janpath! This treasure trove houses an incredible collection showcasing 8,000 years of Indian art. Students explored diverse sections like prehistoric archaeology, decorative arts, bronzes, historical scripts & coins, inscriptions, miniature paintings, and the interactive Anubhav Gallery, where they got creative with the exhibits.
The trip was a fantastic learning experience. Students gained appreciation for India's rich cultural heritage. The historical artifacts, museum exhibits, and archaeological finds at Purana Qila all brought history to life, while the National Museum provided insights into art, history, and architecture. The department looks forward to organizing more such exciting educational adventures for students in the future!

PHASING OUT SINGLE USE PLASTIC

CLASSES VI – IX

As a part of DOE mission to phase out single use plastic, Delhi Public School, Dwarka organized various events in the last week of January 2024 for students of classes VI – IX.

Students were actively engaged in activities like poster making, class quiz and pledge taking which sensitized the students and created awareness about the sensitivity of plastic use in the society.

The seventh edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha-2024 was aired live on 29 January 2024 from Bharatmandapam, Pragati Maidan. The students of DPS Dwarka from classes VI-XI attended the live telecast of this programme in the school premises.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi motivated and encouraged the students to perform well in their exams without fear and stress. He answered the queries of the students and parents from across the country. As the leader of the country Mr. Modi addressed important issues such as leading a balanced life, nurturing healthy competition and maintaining consistency in life.

The students of DPS Dwarka felt deeply inspired by the motivational session by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

A REPUBLIC DAY SPECTACLE

The faculty and student body of Delhi Public School, Dwarka presented a special assembly to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the nation’s Republic Day. The school assembly, titled ‘Marching Forward - A Republic Day Spectacle,’ unfolded as a stirring tribute to the spirit of our great nation. The theme encapsulated the essence of Republic Day. It symbolised our nation’s founding principles, the strides we've made as a country and the promising journey that lies ahead.

The assembly was initiated with a solemn invocation through a prayer by Principal ma’am embodying a poetic homage to our beloved nation. The school choir took stage subsequently with an evocative song to the resonating beats of patriotism. ‘The Thought for the Day' served as a compass, guiding our reflections on the significance of the occasion. A captivating talk show unfolded on the stage, providing a dynamic platform to discuss and celebrate India's progress. Students engaged in insightful conversations, shedding light on the remarkable milestones achieved and the collective dreams that fuel our nation's journey. The talk show underscored our commitment to being active participants in India's forward march. The students recited poems which encapsulated the essence of our rich heritage and the dreams we collectively nurture for our beloved India. The verses painted vivid pictures of resilience, diversity, and the unwavering commitment to march ahead as one united force.

The pride of each school, the students, received recognition at a prize distribution event for their remarkable accomplishments in inter-school competitions, thereby bringing honour to the institution.

Aarohi of Class 8G was awarded the Gold medal in the under fourteen category in a state level Fencing competition organised by the Fencing Association of India.

Karandeep Singh of Class 8B was awarded the Third Position in an essay writing competition at ‘Day of Russian Language, Literature and Culture’- an event organised by the Institute of Russian Language, New Delhi.

Ritika Singh of Class VI-C  represented our school in 2 different Karate competitions organised by Shotokan Sports Karate-Do Association, Delhi. She won a Gold medal and a Silver medal in the respective competitions.

Pritika Jayaswal of Class VII-F participated in the online National Art Skill Olympiad - Junior Group, with the theme ‘Indian Traditional Art’. She secured the second position in the competition.

‘Marching Forward -  A Republic Day Spectacle’ was not just an event; it was a collective pledge to continue our journey with unwavering determination, echoing the sentiment that in every step forward, we contribute to the majestic march of our nation towards prosperity and unity.

Delhi Public School, Dwarka, organised a heartfelt Farewell - The Blessing Ceremony for the Class XII students on Friday, December 29, 2023. Commencing with the lighting of the lamp, the event featured prayers and blessings bestowed upon the outgoing batch by Madam Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka.

Mementos and Certificates, adorned with special titles, were presented to all students, recognizing their contributions and applauding their dedicated efforts.

Class XI students curated a splendid cultural programme, including a band performance, English & Hindi Choir, and lively, foot-tapping dances. The Head Boys and Head Girls gave a heartfelt speech extending their gratitude to the school and teachers, acknowledging their role in shaping them into confident and competent individuals. The programme was a delightful experience for all.

VEER BAL DIWAS

DPS Dwarka conducted live screening of Veer Bal Diwas on December 26, 2023, for students of classes III-IX. The telecast which was relayed from Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, featured Prime Minister Modi paying homage to Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Sahibzade and Mata Gujri Ji.Union minister Ms. Smriti Irani highlighted the courage of the Sahibzade.

The programme was followed by an animated portrayal of the lives of Sahibzades and a display of Indian martial arts from the Kerala, Punjab, and Manipur. Prime Minister highlighted their enduring valor which is an inspiration for future generations. He encouraged the youth to contribute to the country's pride. Proclaiming Veer Bal Diwas as Martyrdom Day, PM Modi wants to spread their sacrifice globally. The program concluded with a march past.

At DPS Dwarka the story of Martyrdom of ‘Four Sahibzadas’ was narrated in the primary wing classes. Students were shown the pictures of ‘Sahibzadas’ on the digi-board to impart important cultural, historical and moral lessons among the students. The students learned about the sacrifice, bravery and family values from the young son of Guru Govind Singhji which will help to shape their character. This entire event was an enriching experience for young learners.

A captivating enactment unfolded on the stage. The students portrayed the challenges faced, lessons learned, and the triumphs achieved during the past year. The enactment seamlessly transitioned into the aspirations and goals set for the approaching year. After the enactment, a touching poem dedicated to the New Year was eloquently recited. The verses vividly illustrated the essence of hope, resilience, and the potential for new beginnings. The assembly concluded on a jubilant note with a vibrant rendition of a New Year song. The lively melody infused the atmosphere with gaiety, spreading positivity and leaving the audience in high spirits.

On the vibrant morning of Saturday, 23 December, 2023, DPS Dwarka witnessed a spectacular event, ‘Vibgyor: A Festive Fusion of Knowledge & Experience.’
This extravaganza was tailored for students of classes 6 to 9 and 11 , providing a platform for the display of projects, mind games, language games, and a myriad of innovative ideas.

The entire campus came alive with the enthusiasm of students and the corridors reverberated with their vibrant energy as they actively participated in the diverse array of activities organised by various departments. The event showcased the collective brilliance and creativity of students in English, Maths, Science, Social Science, Foreign Languages, Robodex, Hindi & Sanskrit, as well as initiatives promoting Mind, Body, Soul, and the love for Reading. The endeavours of each department contributed vivid strokes to the canvas of learning, leaving an indelible impression of wisdom and joy on the visitors.

English : Blossoming Linguistic Genius

The English Department enchanted spectators with captivating projects and language games. Choral recitations filled the air with poetic symphony, creating an atmosphere of literary splendour that echoed through the corridors of DPS Dwarka. Language games captivated the visitors , fostering linguistic prowess and a love for the written word.

• The department painted a literary masterpiece, bringing to life the imaginative characters through a Character Parade presented by the students of Class 6.
• The Choral Recital by the harmonious voices of Class 7 took those present on a captivating journey transporting the audience into the enchanting world of ‘The Adventures of Isabel.’
• The visitors were engaged in linguistic fun by Class 8 with Language Games on Parts of Speech  like Preposition Pin Wheel , Synonyms and Antonyms, Crossword Puzzles , Identify the Sentences,, Hit the Vowel, Word Bingo and Riddle Road to name a few .
• The audience was left both entertained and touched by a  poetic farewell, ‘Goodbye Party to Ms Pushpa TS.’ presented by Class 8. 
• The visitors also got the opportunity to explore captivating models portraying the Victorian Era, Shakespearean Castles , interesting poetic and prose compositions with several other eye catching projects. Literary epochs and bookmark marvels adorned the English department, providing a visual feast for all.

Hindi : Khel Khel Mein Bhasha - Gyan

Various language-related games and activities were organised for each class, where not only the students but also their parents enthusiastically participated, adding to the celebration and admiration.

• Hindi took a playful turn as Class 6 students wove words into a linguistic game of Snakes and Ladders. They showcased their knowledge of various words through the classic game of Snakes  and Ladders but with a linguistic twist.
• Class 7 students brought Hindi literature to life through expressive sketches. Pictionary with Hindi Literature showcased the students' creativity, bringing Hindi literature to life.
• Language through Physical Activities - Class 8 students broke the mould, incorporating physical activities into linguistic endeavours. Breaking barriers, Class 8 fused language with physical activities, adding a dynamic element to linguistic pursuits.
• Dumb Charades with Idioms - Class 9 captivated with Dumb Charades, skilfully enacting different idioms. They drew everyone into their orbit, showcasing their talent in linguistic games.
• Authors' Recognition through Puzzles- The charm of the students from Class 9 was exceptional, with their engaging activity of identifying various authors through playful puzzles. The interesting activity had a mixed element of mystery and fun.

Sanskrit : Chitrakala of Sanskriti
Sanskrit became a visual delight as the  event coincided with the auspicious occasion of Geeta Jayanti . 
Students made  beautiful rangolis at the exhibition venue. The section was adorned with charts and working models showcasing the beauty of the Sanskrit language.
The opulent Sanskrit display included : 

•  Vedic literature in the form of an attractive model in the form of a tree.
• Beautiful models on Vedas and science.
• Attractive working models to simplify grammar and make it interesting.
• Models on Life Skills and Sanskrit.
• Sanskrit Educational Model.
• Working model of Sanskrit shlokas.
• Model of ancient Gurukul.
• Models based on Sanskrit lessons.
• Models on Indian festivals.
• Model on environmental protection.
• Model on ancient writing arts.

There was also a live performance of Shlokas from the Geeta and Sanskrit stotras during the event.

All visitors praised the exhibition and encouraged the students to continue their earnest efforts.

Japanese Extravaganza: Anime Symphony

The Japanese Extravaganza transported attendees to the vibrant world of Anime, Cosplay, and Origami, showcasing the richness of Japanese culture.
The cosplay participants dressed up as Anime Characters enacted and spoke in Japanese along with English translation.

There was also a display of Origami models by students of Japanese language and members of the Origami Club.

The work was beautifully displayed by the children on the above theme.
Intricately designed  models on Humanity,Nature,Peace and tranquility were also put up by the students.

The visitors were left mesmerised.
Each piece of work was appreciated by the parents and other visitors.

French & German Fiesta: A Language Carnival

The foreign language ( French, German ) students of  classes 6 to 9 turned the language carnival into a dazzling display of tongue twisters, poems, skits, and models, highlighting the linguistic richness of French, German, and Spanish languages.

• A group of students showcased the models based on culture & civilisation and famous tourist places of the respective languages.

Spanish : A Cultural Journey

• The students of class 6 presented a visual narrative of the history of Spanish & Hispanic culture, bringing together outstanding works from Spain and colonial Latin America, from antiquity to the early 20th century. Spain and the Hispanic World reflected the great diversity of culture.
• Students of class 7 participated enthusiastically and prepared various models of famous monuments of Spain and Spanish  countries.They had  also prepared a quiz on Spain.
• Students of class 8 prepared the entire entertainment zone on the lines of  the famous dance forms, musical instruments, movies, TV series.
• Students of class 9 exuberantly made working models of the festivals of Spain and Hispanic world.

Mathematics and Art: A Symphony of Numbers and Colours- 
The visitors witnessed how Mathematics and art merged seamlessly, creating a symphony of numbers and colors.

• Mandala Art - Students demonstrated how the intersection of mandala art and mathematics can be a fascinating one, offering endless possibilities for creative expression and exploration.
• Rangolis- The students made colourful rangolis and combined this  beautiful art form with mathematics thus depicting a world of exciting possibilities.
• Mathematics & Dramatics : Contrary to what the lay man might thinks , even Theatre uses a lot of mathematics. Mathematical equations were made to step aside as It was  time for numbers to move and groove. The subject was brought to life with  a splash of dramatics!
• Other Attractions included stepping into the world of the Rubik's Cube. The activity was a  gateway to explore the hidden mathematics behind this iconic puzzle, where every twist and turn unlocks a surprising connection with probability and graph theory.
• Skit: Students performed a skit to show the achievements of renowned mathematician , Shakuntala Devi .
• Dance: Symmetry is crucial in most dance performances. A foot tapping Bharatnatyam performance was an apt example.
• Immersive PPT's gave an out of the world experience showing graphs of various functions, Models on graphs of Synx, Cosx & Tanx and their inverses,  to name a few.
• Dramatics: Role Plays were staged on the lives of several famous mathematicians. It was mind blowing to see how angles become aerial artistry, volumes transform into breathtaking vaults, and statistics turn into strategies for athletic mastery
• Aerobics: It was mind boggling to see Parabolas take flight in breathtaking vaults, and Pythagorean leaps become gravity-defying feats of strength. 

Robodex Wonderland: Bots in Bloom
The visitors explored the interactive world of Robomaze, Robosoccer, and innovative projects, including the award-winning Bloom Project.

• A variety of bots with different mechanisms were displayed which the students explained to the parents 
• Visitors were encouraged to play with the bots which was a resounding success. 
• Also the award winning Bloom Project ( Arduino enabled moisture sensing project ) was displayed. It helped parents to connect AI to everyday world 
• An achievement corner displaying the works of students , trophies won in various events by members was set up.
• A small token , a goodies bag was offered to all visitors along with the club magazine which contained all details about the club .

Physics Odyssey: Energetic Cosmos

The Physics Odyssey fascinated attendees with Tesla Coils, Hydraulic lifts, Laser Security Systems, and a captivating Selfie Spot complete with a rocket model. They exhibited working models of : 

•  Hyperloop network  and Tesla Coil based on principle of electro magnetic Induction.
• Hydraulic lift  which works on principle of Pascal's law.
• Laser Security System which works on principle of LDR  in electric circuits. 
• Light box through which various optical phenomenon were  demonstrated by students of class XI th. With the help of laser light, total internal reflection, multiple reflection, refraction through glass prism were  shown to the parents.
• Class 6 students had made beautiful  electric diyas and electric cards for display. 
• Major attraction was the selfie spot where rocket model was designed by students to click photographs.. 
• For added fun , a few games like electric maze and 'know your reaction time’ were also displayed.

Chemistry Enchantment: Elements of Wonder
Chemistry Enchantment unfolded with volcanic eruptions, chromatography, and other chemical marvels presented by students across Classes 6 to 9 and 11.

• The air was charged with curiosity and excitement, and the greens echoed with the inquisitiveness of students and guests exploring the wonders of chemical reactions.
• From the mesmerising eruption of a makeshift volcano to the delicate dance of colours in chromatography, each exhibit was a testament to the transformative power of curiosity and learning.
• Young minds, from Classes 6 to 9 and 11 collaborated. 
• This chemistry exhibition was not just an event; it was a celebration of curiosity, sparking a flame of wonder and learning.

Biology Showcase: Living Menagerie
The Biology Showcase presented a living tapestry with working models, projects, field displays , Games, charts etc unveiling the secrets of medicinal plants & Ayurveda, genetic engineering, ecology, Various Systems in the human body , Agriculture & Food Preservation and Virology & Bacteriology , to name a few.

Social Science Expedition: Historical Odyssey
The Social Science Expedition guided attendees through rainwater harvesting, the solar system, Persian wheels, Harappan galleries, and the architectural marvels of India.

• Rainwater Harvesting: Save Water, Save Life - Visitors discovered the art of collecting rainwater to nurture our planet. They Learnt about rooftop harvesting and surface runoff techniques to conserve precious water resources.
• Solar System: Unveiling the Cosmic Marvels - A real time feel helping visitors embark on a journey through the solar system – from the blazing sun to the distant planets. They excitedly explored the importance of harnessing solar energy for a sustainable future.
• Persian Wheel: Ancient Ingenuity at Work - Visitors delved into the past and understood the brilliance of the Persian wheel. They witnessed with all curiosity how this ancient water-lifting device transformed arid regions, making agriculture flourish.
• Harappan Gallery: Time Travel to the Indus Valley- Attractive models and projects coerced the visitors to step into the Harappan gallery for a glimpse into the mysteries of the Indus Valley Civilisation. They also enjoyed uncovering the secrets of their advanced urban planning and intricate drainage systems.
• Monuments of India: A Tapestry of Heritage - It was a delight to behold the architectural wonders of India – from the timeless Taj Mahal to the ancient Ajanta and Ellora Caves. Exploring the cultural tapestry that narrates India's rich history and artistic brilliance was an experience of a lifetime.

Engaging games, surveys, and models transported visitors through a fascinating Historical Odyssey, unveiling the mysteries of our past.

Sociology : Societal Symphony

The list of activities included :

Game was very interactive. Parents enjoyed a lot while playing the game..

• List of social institutions and explanation about social institutions, family school education law..
• Banners and posters on social issues and social institutions..
• project presentation and pictures of students while presenting projects in class
• Survey questionnaire on projects was filled by Parents very  enthusiastically.

Economics : Weaving Growth, Equality, and Sustainability"

Models were made on  :

• Sectors of the economy - To Sensitise visitors towards rising economic inequalities and realise the importance of 'aarthik kriyaakalaap ' in growth and development. 
• Inflation - To highlight how everything gets more valuable except money. 
• Factors of Production - In order to  help the visitors gain an insight into how these factors act individually as well as in tandem with one another to produce a good or service.
• Evolution of Money - Showcasing a series of developments in the form of the acceptable medium of exchange throughout history.
• Conservation of resources - Helped visitors behold the idea of an inclusive green economy that builds social equity while reducing environmental risks and scarcities.
• Poverty - To emphasise how it is one of the biggest challenges of Indian Economy 
• Trade- Showcased how trade is an engine of growth .
• Modern Indian village- Attractive models were displayed to demonstrate how villages in modern India are instrumental in fostering economic empowerment in rural areas of India.
• Banking System - The core of India's financial system is these institutions, which serve as a meeting point for savers and investors.

Political Science : Polity Play

In the realm of Political Science, the dynamic students of Class 11 curated an engaging stall brimming with interactive games. The visitors delved into the realm of political trivia and current affairs, relishing the fusion of fun and knowledge. Each participant received rewards. 
An additional nugget of information illuminated the "General Electors Registration Process," raising awareness about the government portal for voter list registration, correction, or deletion. 
The display of models and projects added an extra layer of attraction, capturing everyone's attention and earning well-deserved appreciation.
The enthusiastic feedback from parents underscored the event's worthiness.

Legal Studies :: Ladli Foundation's Social Internship Programme

Class XI students, participating in the Social Internship Program, presented insightful projects on Malnutrition and Tuberculosis. The objective was to educate students and parents on the symptoms, causes, and prevention of Malnutrition and Tuberculosis, shedding light on the crucial role of millets in addressing malnutrition. The presentation also emphasized the significance of a balanced diet and illustrated how millets contribute to enhancing nutritional intake.

Mind, Body, and Soul: Energetic Harmony
The holistic domain of Mind, Body, and Soul offered a harmonious blend, starting with prayer and yoga, leading to an on-the-spot chess tournament and embracing holistic well-being.
The day began with the participating students assembling for a prayer . They were also made to chant Om  and  perform various yoga asanas as a warm up activity for an energetic and vigorous day ahead .

• A series of Yoga sessions were also conducted for visitors who actively participated.
• An on the spot Chess tournament was organised wherein 17 students participated. Winners were also declared to maintain the spirit and excitement of the competition.

Love for Reading: Literary Wonderland

The School Library section was transformed into a literary wonderland, adorned with reading corners, book displays, and interactive sessions. The visitors found themselves immersed in the enchanting world of captivating books on a variety of  subjects and genres fostering love for reading. The   venue was beautifully decorated with huge scrolls displaying popular quotes related to the importance of reading

The exhibition wasn't just a display; it was a celebration of linguistic brilliance, artistic creativity, and the boundless potential within each student. The innovative concept transcended the boundaries of conventional learning. The brilliance displayed by the students, the dedication of the faculty, and the meticulous organisation created a symphony resonating with the spirit of learning. The event was not merely a display but a celebration of diverse talents, an ode to the unquenchable thirst for knowledge within each student. Kudos to the students, faculty, and organisers for crafting an event that will linger in the memories, inspiring future endeavours on the path of wisdom and exploration

CAREER ORIENTATION SESSION

The career orientation session was organised at DPS Dwarka on Friday, 22 December 2023. It aimed to guide and inspire students of class 9 and 10 in understanding various career pathways and making informed decisions about their future.
The session commenced in the school auditorium, with an introduction by Jitin Chawla, a renowned career counselor.
Mr. Chawla emphasized the importance of early career planning and explained the significance of making informed decisions at this stage of academic life.
He engaged students through interactive discussions, sharing insights into a wide range of career options available in various fields such as science, commerce, humanities, arts, and vocational courses. Practical advice was provided on the essential skills and qualifications required for different professions. The session concluded with a Q&A segment where students enthusiastically asked questions and sought advice regarding their specific career queries.
Conclusion: The career orientation session conducted by Jitin Chawla provided valuable insights into diverse career options, guiding students towards making informed decisions for their future endeavors.

JINGLE ALL THE WAY- UNWRAPPING THE MAGIC OF JOY

The school assembly on the theme ‘Jingle All the Way - Unwrapping the Magic of Joy’ encapsulated the spirit of the festive season, inviting everyone to embrace and share the enchanting joy that comes with this special time of the year.

​​The assembly commenced with a melodious rendition by the school choir. The ‘Thought for the Day’, a thought-provoking and inspirational quotation set the tone for a celebration centred around spreading joy and warmth. Following the thought-provoking lines, an enchanting enactment unfolded on the stage. Santa Claus, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and a festive Christmas tree came to life to deliver a heartfelt message of joy and friendship to the world. Through their lively interactions and animated gestures, the characters emphasised the importance of spreading love, kindness, and merriment in the lives of everyone. The melodious sounds of Christmas carols filled the air with the timeless tunes of joy and celebration.

The school assembly on ‘Jingle All the Way - Unwrapping the Magic of Joy’ succeeded in creating an atmosphere filled with festive cheer and warmth. The thought-provoking quotation, coupled with the lively enactment and soulful Christmas carols, served as a reminder to embrace the spirit of joy and spread it generously to those around us. BHARATIYA BHASHA UTSAV POSTER MAKING ACTIVITY

The CBSE Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav organized a poster-making activity themed 'भाषाएँ अनेक, भाव एक' (Diverse Languages, Unified Emotions) for Class 8 students on December 15, 2023. The primary goal was to encourage students to explore and celebrate the linguistic diversity of India by creatively representing their thoughts and ideas through images and drawings.

Activity Description:

The event aimed at fostering an appreciation for the richness of India's various regional languages such as Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, among others. Students were tasked with crafting posters using visual elements, doodles, symbols, or illustrations that portrayed their unique perspectives on the diverse languages prevalent in our nation. The theme 'My thoughts, My ideas' prompted students to showcase their imagination, innovation, and creativity in depicting the significance of these languages in their lives.

Implementation:

The activity took place during SUPW   period, offering students a dedicated time to engage in this creative endeavor. Under the guidance of their teachers, students utilized this opportunity to express their understanding and admiration for the linguistic mosaic of India. Through their posters, they exhibited an array of emotions, ideas, and reflections, highlighting the importance of linguistic diversity as a source of unity and cultural richness.

Conclusion:

The poster-making activity fostered a sense of inclusivity, respect, and appreciation for linguistic differences while emphasizing the unity these languages bring through diverse expressions of thoughts and emotions.

‘JOURNEY TOWARDS CIVIL SERVICES’
A SESSION BY ISHAN GUPTA, IPS

CLASSES IX & XI
Day/Date: Thursday, 14 December 2023

‘Nurturing the Roots’ programme is an endeavour to bring our school alumni back to school to interact with the students of DPS Dwarka.
Ishan Gupta, school alumnus batch of 2011, currently serving as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi, Meghalaya was invited to take an interactive session on ‘Journey towards Civil Services’ on Thursday, 14 December 2023, for the students of Classes IX & XI.
In his address he talked about how he made his way to IIT Delhi, joined the corporate sector and eventually decided to prepare for the UPSC exam. He inspired the students to focus on their dreams and work hard to attain them. He gave them an insight into various job opportunities offered by the government sector after clearing the coveted UPSC exam. Through a video presentation, he showcased the rigorous training the IPS officers acquire before venturing into their job. The Q & A session saw a remarkable enthusiasm by the students as they shot a lot of questions about their career options.
The session encouraged the students to effectively plan their career goals and achieve success in life.  Filled with awe and loaded with inspiration, the students took his autograph at the end of the session as they look up to him, aiming to follow his foot-steps.

CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (IDPD)

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is observed globally on December 3rd each year. It's a day aimed at promoting the rights and well-being of people with disabilities.
DPS Dwarka dedicated an extended period from December 4th to 8th to commemorate this important occasion. During the week, students actively engaged in various events and activities tailored to raise awareness, celebrate the abilities of persons with disabilities, and promote inclusivity.
It fostered empathy, understanding, and inclusivity among the student body, helping to break down barriers and stereotypes associated with disabilities. Moreover, it encouraged an environment of support and empowerment for individuals with disabilities within the school community. Students along with their peer buddies participated in classroom quiz sessions, Pledge taking and poster making activities organised. A brief description of the same is attached herewith. (Annexure I)
Conclusion
The active participation of students during the International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebrations at DPS Dwarka not only showcased their enthusiasm but also signified a crucial step towards fostering a more inclusive environment. Through their engagement in various activities and programs, these students gained invaluable awareness and understanding about disabilities and the significance of inclusion.

WORKING TOGETHER FOR A COMMON GOAL!

‘Unity is the silent architect of extraordinary achievements; together, we build bridges to dreams that stand tall against the currents of challenge.’

In a celebration of unity and collaboration, the School Assembly held on 12 December 2023 focused on the theme ‘Working Together for a Common Goal.’ The objective was to instil the importance of collective effort, cooperation, and synergy in achieving shared objectives.

The assembly commenced with a collective prayer by the school choir, symbolising the strength that comes from a shared purpose and a united front. As the students bowed their heads and in unison, joined in singing the prayer song,  it set the tone for the essence of working together towards a common goal. Following the prayer song, students took the stage to share an insightful ‘Thought for the Day,’ emphasising the power of unity and collaboration.

A Talk Show was presented, featuring students discussing the significance of teamwork and the impact it has on achieving common goals. Personal anecdotes were shared, highlighting instances where collective effort had led to success and accomplishment. The presentation aimed to inspire fellow students to recognize the value of cooperation and collaboration in both academic and personal pursuits. A poem drawing inspiration from the lessons in working together for a shared goal as presented by Nature, was presented next. The poem fostered a sense of camaraderie and underscored the idea that the collective strength of a group is greater than the sum of its individual parts.

The highlight of the school assembly was the Prize Distribution Ceremony in which the efforts of the students who had done the school proud in National level and Inter School competitions, were acknowledged and applauded.

Vanya Gupta of class VIII- F achieved All India Rank 1 in Unleash Your Art 2023, a National level drawing competition.
Shishir Sharma of class XI- F and Shreeparna Biswas of class VIII- F were awarded the FIRST POSITION in the Senior Solo and Middle Solo categories in an Inter School Origami Competition organised by the Embassy of Japan.
Tanjal Mendiratta and Shivam Anand of class VIII-F won the THIRD POSITION in the Badminton Tournament as part of NAMASTE DEUTSCHLAND, the Grand German Festival organised by MAX MUELLER BHAVAN in collaboration with the Directorate of Education.
Leisha Golcha of class XI-E won the THIRD POSITION in the event Robotrics Couture as part of ROBOTRON organised by DPS Mathura Road.

The students of classes VI, VII & VIII worked assiduously to create masterpieces which showcased their talents, creativity and prowess. The class magazines created by these students are a spectacular testament of their pursuit of excellence.

Class VI-C bagged the First Position for its Happiness Magazine in the Class VI category. The Happiness Magazine by Class VII- D bagged the First Position in the Class VII Category. The DESH BHAKTI Magazine created by VIII-A won the First Position in the class VIII category.

The school assembly served as a platform for students to reflect on the significance of collaboration, emphasising that when individuals unite their efforts, they can overcome challenges and achieve extraordinary feats. The meticulous planning and enthusiastic participation of the students contributed to the success of the event, reinforcing the idea that collective endeavour is key to success.

DPS Dwarka organized the 'Confluence' a mega career fair on December 8th, in collaboration with the Jitin Chawla's Center for Career Development. This event catered to students from classes 9th to 12th, attracting a considerable turnout of both students and parents.
The event showcased reputable universities from India and around the world, presenting attendees with a diverse array of academic possibilities. It served as an excellent platform for students to investigate multiple career paths, engage directly with representatives from highly-regarded universities, and gather valuable information about various higher education options available both nationally and internationally. This fair was instrumental in enabling comprehensive exploration and informed decision-making for individuals seeking to pursue their academic aspirations and future professional endeavors.
Conclusion:
'Confluence' proved to be an enriching experience, offering a comprehensive platform for students to explore diverse career opportunities and gain insights into higher education possibilities, contributing significantly to their academic and career growth.

Stepping into a realm of self-discovery and empowerment, the class assemblies  held on 05 December ‘23 centered around the theme ‘Our Unique Talents and Strengths.’ The aim was to delve into the diverse facets of individual abilities and strengths, fostering an appreciation for the distinctive qualities that shape each person.

The class assemblies commenced with prayers, a symbol of gratitude to the Almighty for the diversity of talents bestowed upon us. Following the prayers, students shared insightful ‘Thoughts for the Day,’ offering nuggets of wisdom that resonated with the theme of celebrating our unique talents and strengths.

Talk Shows were presented to articulate the intrinsic value of recognizing and embracing one's strengths. Students passionately shared personal stories and reflections on how acknowledging their unique talents had led to personal growth and empowerment. Students engaged in discussions and activities related to self-discovery. These activities allowed students to explore their strengths and talents in a supportive and encouraging environment.

NAMO NAMAH BHARTAYA

On Thursday, 30 November 2023, DPS Dwarka presented the grand spectacular show, ‘Namo Namah Bhartaya’, its annual stage production. Dr. Kiran Datar, Honourable Chairperson, DPS Dwarka, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, adding an aura of distinction to the event. 
Ms. Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and expressed that the school's presentation aimed to traverse the history of our great nation, starting from the era of Guru Chanakya to the illustrious reign of Ashoka, the Mughals, the British colonial period, and finally, the emergence of independent India.
Madam Narayanan extended her sincere gratitude to the esteemed Director of DPS Dwarka, acknowledging her unwavering support and constant guidance in all school endeavours.
Honourable Chairperson, Dr. Datar, in her address, eloquently delved into the profound history of India. In classrooms spanning from VI to XII, our students delved into the essence of being an ally through class assemblies. The assemblies began with prayers inspiring empathy and solidarity. Subsequently, students shared their insights on the importance of standing together and embracing diversity. News segments during these assemblies mirrored the broader world, emphasizing the global need for allies. Poems were recited, capturing the essence of being an ally as a guardian of understanding and support. Talk Shows discussed the role of an ally, which is to enlighten and preserve - to protect the heritage of compassion and unity.

INTER DPS NATIONAL WESTERN VOCAL MUSIC FESTIVAL 2023

DPS Dwarka organised Inter-DPS National Western Vocal Music Festival 2023 under the aegis of The DPS Society on Saturday, 04 November 2023.Mr B. K. Chaturvedi, Chairman, The DPS Society, Mr. V. K. Shunglu, Vice - Chairman, The DPS Society and Madam Madhu Shunglu were the esteemed guests gracing the occasion.  
Ms. Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka, extended a warm welcome to the august assembly with an ode to music.
Mr. V. K. Shunglu, Vice - Chairman, DPS Society, acknowledged the significant musical prowess held by all Delhi Public Schools and applauded the participants interested to make music their profession.
Mr B. K. Chaturvedi, Chairman, DPS Society, expressed his admiration for the host school's organization of the grand musical event and conveyed his best wishes to all the participating teams.
Total 627 participants from 76 Delhi Public Schools PAN India participated in the preliminary round of this mega event. For the final round, participants from 20 qualifying schools competed for the coveted trophy. Competitions in both categories, Solo Song and Group Song, were adjudged by a renowned panel of judges.
The Valedictory ceremony dazzled with a starry musical concert. Enchanting presentations by the School Band, a captivating rendition by the School Choir and an electrifying Piano recital by Ammie Arora, the youngest retro female pianist, immersed the audience into a symphonic euphoria.
In the Solo Song Competition, DPS Nipania, Indore, won the Rolling Trophy followed by DPS R. K. Puram and DPS Vasant Kunj at the second and third positions respectively. In the Group Song Competition DPS Faridabad, Sector -19, bagged the Rolling Trophy followed by DPS Noida and DPS R. K. Puram at the second and third positions respectively.
The performance of the prize-winning entries was a delightful treat, creating a harmonious reverie for one and all.
The two dignitaries felicitated the winners and congratulated them for their zealous performance in this musical odyssey.

 ‘RUN FOR UNITY’ ON RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS (NATIONAL UNITY DAY)

The day was marked by administering “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge” in the special morning school assembly.  The assembly was a symbolic reaffirmation of the students' commitment to unity and solidarity within the nation, emphasizing the importance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's vision.
The 'Run for Unity' not only promoted a sense of physical fitness but also served as a powerful metaphor for the unification of India. The students' active participation in these activities, from the Unity Pledge to the physical run, was marked by their zeal and zest, reflecting a profound admiration for Sardar Patel's legacy and a strong commitment to fostering unity within the diverse tapestry of the nation.

DPS Dwarka observed ‘National Unity Day’ on Tuesday, 31 October 2023. This was a momentous occasion for our school to reinforce the values of unity in diversity. This day commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the ‘Iron Man of India’, who played a pivotal role in unifying the country.
The celebration aimed to instil the spirit of unity, diversity and integration among our students.
Class VI students actively participated in Poster Making event and showcased their skills of bridging gaps between different communities.
The students of Class VII presented Talk Show and exhibited their contribution to national unity through their dialogues.

At Delhi Public School Dwarka, we recognize the significance of unity in achieving our goals and aspirations. On 31 October ‘23, students from classes VI to XII presented assemblies in their classrooms to share their insights on the topic 'Unity is Strength'. The message was clear: unity has the power to transform individuals into a formidable force.

The assemblies opened with a salutation to the Divine. Inspirational quotes emphasized the role of unity in overcoming challenges and achieving success. The News segment gave information on the national and international scenario.

Students shared their perspectives on unity, highlighting the importance of working together for common goals. They recounted stories of historical events where unity was the driving force behind great achievements, from independence movements to scientific breakthroughs. Stories of communities coming together to address social issues, sports teams achieving victory through teamwork, and nations collaborating for global peace were shared to demonstrate how unity can bring about profound change.The importance of unity in the face of issues like climate change, poverty, and global health crises was highlighted.

MY SCHOOL POSTER MAKING

CLASSES: III – IX
Date: October 26th to 1st November 2023

In sync with CBSE activity ‘भाषाएँ अनेक, भाव एक’ DPS Dwarka organized a Poster Making Activity on the theme "My School" for classes III – IX from October 26th to 1st November 2023. The activity provided students an opportunity to gain better understanding of their school and gather essential knowledge. Students created Posters highlighting their school and wrote about its features in their respective regional languages.They collaborated to gather vital information about the school using a combination of drawings, photographs, and other literacy tools. This activity aimed to foster a sense of understanding and awareness of the various regional languages. It encouraged students to explore, learn, and communicate their new found knowledge and also enhanced their regional language vocabulary.
It was heartening to witness the enthusiasm and creativity displayed by the students in portraying their school through posters. The event successfully achieved its objective of helping students connect with their school and understand the importance of preserving and caring for their school.

MENTAL HEALTH WORKSHOP

CLASS: IX

A Mental Health Workshop took place at Delhi Public School Dwarka on October 26, 2023. The workshop was led by Ms. Nimisha Sharma, an Expressive Art Based therapist from the Department of Mental Health and Behaviour Sciences at Fortis Healthcare.
Workshop Highlights:
This workshop was tailored for 9th-grade students with a primary focus on increasing awareness about mental health. The topics covered included understanding the importance of mental health, identifying common teenage mental health issues, and offering coping strategies and resources. The workshop strongly stressed the importance of seeking help when needed.
During the workshop, students actively engaged in discussions, creating a safe space to share their personal experiences and concerns. Ms. Nimisha Sharma emphasized the significance of approaching the school counselor or seeking assistance when facing mental health challenges. She discussed the daily obstacles and barriers to mental health and underscored the need to prioritize mental well-being. The session concluded with students making pledges to each other, committing to be non-judgmental, avoid bullying and peer pressure, and openly discuss their feelings.
Conclusion:
The Mental Health Workshop was a resounding success. It provided students with valuable tools for improving their mental health and contributed to fostering a more supportive school environment.

LIVE INTERACTION OF SH. M. SRIKANTH, MISSION DIRECTOR (CHANDRAYAAN-3) WITH STUDENTS OF DOE —  VISION QUEST

On Wednesday, 18 October 2023 GNCT of Delhi has arranged an interaction of   Sh. M. Srikant (Mission director of Chandrayaan - 3) with the school students from all over in Delhi and students of DPS Dwarka got the opportunity to watch this live program of Sh. M. Srikanth, mission Director of Chandrayaan – 3.  The program began with the welcome speech and a Saraswati Vandana. Then, it was followed by a cultural representation by students on the theme of ‘Garba dance’. There was also a launch of the magazine – ‘NAYI UDAAN’.  Question Answer round with  Sh. M. Srikanth and Sh. Himanshu Gupta (IAS, Director, DoE) was the main highlight of the day. Students asked many questions on space, ISRO and about the engineering and science. Questions about aliens, Parallel universe etc. were also asked. The importance of Vedic maths was also discussed.
They also asked about the challenges faced by them in the launch of Chandrayaan - 3. Sh. M. Srikanth answered all the questions very patiently.
Our students were taking interest in the interaction. They were very happy to attend this live program. They were also motivated to see such a great personality who wants to serve his country before anything else.   Overall, the interaction was very informative and interesting. Students liked the program and are excited to watch more of such programmes in future. 

ADOLESCENCE ISSUES (NIE WORKSHOP)

Ms. Jayshree Mehta from NIE, an independent consultant and life skills trainer conducted the workshop. The workshop started with asking a few questions from the students about everyday challenges they face. Few important issues, the young students face like their appearance, emotions, cognitive and social changes were discussed during the workshop. The workshop was very interactive and interesting as it was filled with variety of activities like story telling, discussion, interest generation, thinking and meditative exercises etc. The students really enjoyed and learnt from the workshop.

To commemorate World Mental Health Day, a workshop titled "Cultivating Positive Emotions" was conducted at DPS Dwarka on 10 October 2023 for Class VIII students. The session, held in the school's auditorium, was led by Ms. Karuna, a clinical psychologist from Apollo Hospital.
Participants engaged in a series of activities and discussions aimed at promoting emotional well-being and mental health. Ms. Karuna, a clinical psychologist from Apollo Hospital, began by introducing the concept of positive emotions and their significance, highlighting how they can reduce stress, enhance resilience, and contribute to overall mental health. SKILLS ON WHEELS BUS

The students of Class IX of DPS Dwarka visited the ‘Skills on Wheels Bus’ –a customized bus with retrofitted tools with a mission to build a ‘Skilled tomorrow’ on Monday, 09 October 2023.

A CBSE initiative, the programme is to encourage school to introduce skill education and introduce young students to the world of work. It also aims at inculcating dignity of labour in young minds and makes education practical through ‘learning by doing’.

The ‘Skills on Wheels Bus’ was installed with the required training tools. Students were exposed to basic engineering, energy and environment, gardening and agriculture and home and health science.

The students realized the benefits of vocational skill education and were made aware of various free skilled training programme. They were motivated to take up industry related skill training to secure a livelihood in future.

It was a great learning experience for the students!

LAW AS A CAREER

CLASS: XI (Commerce & Humanities)

Adv Surbhi Agrawal from AB Tutorials conducted a workshop on Monday, 9 October 2023 on the topic “Law as a career” in India and abroad in the school auditorium. It was attended by students of class XI (Commerce and Humanities). Adv Surbhi Agrawal spoke about various career options like that of a Legal Advisor, Corporate Lawyer, taking up Cyber Law, establishing startups, entrepreneurial debut, giving judicial services exam and many such options were discussed in length. Preparation strategies for CLAT and AILET were discussed.
Students were apprised of various Universities and their admission process offering Law courses after class XII. Incredible tips were given to students during the course of the workshop to enhance their confidence while choosing a suitable career option which will be helpful in their future career development.
The forum was left open towards the end for question and answer round where the students were encouraged to shed their inhibitions and ask relevant questions. All the questions were appropriately handled by the resource person.
This workshop extended an opportunity for our students to have in depth knowledge and understanding about choosing ‘Law’ as a Career option. It was indeed a valuable session.

CRICKET AND TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT

DPS Dwarka Sports Department organised the Cricket and Table Tennis Tournament on the occasion of ANNUAL FEST 2023 on 07 and 14 October 2023 for Under-15 Boys. The aim was to promote importance of sports among the young enthusiasts and fostering healthy competition among schools.
A total of 8 schools participated in the event, showcasing the depth of talent in the region. The tournament was fiercely competitive, and the matches were a spectacle of athleticism and sportsmanship. Students displayed exceptional team work and demonstrated tremendous potential.

PROFILE BUILDING, SAT AND UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS ABROAD

A workshop was organised by Delhi Public School, Dwarka for the students of Classes X, XI and XII on 25 September 2023 to educate the students about Profile Building, SAT and Undergraduate Admissions Abroad.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Vineet Gupta, Managing Director, Jamboree and Co-founder of Ashoka University and Plaksha University.
Mr. Gupta informed students about various popular undergraduate study destinations all across the world like USA, Canada, UK, Germany, India, Singapore and Australia.
The speaker covered various aspects and qualifications required to get into a foreign university to avail scholarships and admission criteria to different foreign as well as Indian Universities.
The workshop was extremely enriching for the students, and clarified all the possible doubts of the students who are planning to study abroad.

TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION

DPS Dwarka celebrated Teachers Day on Tuesday, 05 September 2023. Ms.  Priya Narayanan, Principal DPS Dwarka, addressed all the teachers of the Senior and the Primary Wing. She conveyed greetings of the day to all on behalf of  Mr. B. K Chaturvedi, Chairman, The DPS Society, Mr. V.K. Shunglu, Vice Chairman, The DPS Society and Mrs. Sunita Tanwar, Director, DPS Dwarka. She applauded the efforts of all the staff members for their commitment and dedication. She also emphasised upon the essential duties of a teacher.
On this occasion, Role Model Teacher Award 2023 was conferred upon Ms. Sangeeta Mandhar, PRT and Ms. Sudha Rana, TGT Biology for their relentless service towards the institution.
The celebration concluded with a staff photograph followed by high tea.

FITNESS ASSESSMENT WEEK

DPS Dwarka Sports Department organized the Fitness Assessment Week from 24–29 August 2023 for Boys and Girls for Classes VI–IX.

The Fitness Assessment Week was very beneficial for the physical and mental
well-being of the students.

Various fitness assessment activities were included such as 100 mtr. Race, Long jump, Push-ups, Height & Weight of the students.

This programme helped in the overall development of the students as it is based on the component of physical fitness which includes speed, strength, endurance, flexibility and coordinative abilities. These types of activities are very beneficial for the students.

A workshop on the topic Malnutrition was conducted by the students of Class XI,  the "Interns of Social Internship Program" of Delhi Public School, Dwarka. The purpose of conducting the workshop was to inform the students about malnutrition its symptoms, causes, prevention and the role of millets to overcome malnutrition.
The students explained the concept with the help of a Power Point Presentation, the
presentation was very informative and creative. This initiative was taken to make the students understand about how everyone should contribute to the society by educating people around them about the challenges related to malnutrition.

Students were also able to understand the importance of a balanced diet and how millets can enhance it. It helped students to value the importance of team work while conducting the workshop and it enhance their oratory skills.

On August 25th, 2023, an interactive workshop on Personality Development was organized at Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka. This workshop was tailored to address the distinct requirements and aspirations of 9th-Class students, with the intention of equipping them with valuable skills and knowledge to enrich their personal growth and overall development. Leading the workshop was Ms. Aakriti, a proficient psychologist affiliated with Fortis Healthcare. Ms. Aakriti is recognized for her expertise as an Art-Based Therapist and currently serves as a counselling psychologist within her organization.
The workshop was divided into three distinct segments. Initially, students were encouraged to imagine themselves as superheroes and creatively depict their personality on canvases, taking into account all the strength of their superhero. In the second phase, participants engaged in reflection, exploring the vulnerabilities of their superheroes and the subsequent hurdles they might encounter. The third segment of the workshop guided students to strategize innovative approaches for addressing the challenges faced by their superheroes in distinctive ways. As the session drew to a close, students openly shared their artwork and engaged in introspection, discussing their emotions and insights.
The workshop proved to be a dynamic platform for students to explore their imaginative capacities, delve into self-awareness, and foster a proactive mindset.

Delhi Public School Dwarka organized a tree plantation drive on 24.8.2023.Students of Classes VI – IX who are members of the Environment and Social initiatives club participated in this event. The students were involved in a plethora of activities including placard making and banner designing. The occasion was graced by Ms. Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka and Vice Principals (Senior and Primary Wing). The program began with a warm up question-answer session between the Principal and the students. Teachers and students enthusiastically participated in the Plantation drive. After plantation students proceeded for “Tree Talks and walks”. They took a tour of the school spreading awareness on how we can save our climate from pollution by planting more and more trees. Sitting under trees they narrated talks regarding the importance of trees like Neem, Jacaranda, Kachnar etc. This was a great initiative and a glorious event for all.

On the 23rd of August 2023, Delhi Public School, Dwarka orchestrated a momentous Investiture cum Felicitation Ceremony. This event marked the formal induction of young leaders into their roles, which they will dutifully uphold throughout the ensuing year. Furthermore, this occasion served as a pinnacle of pride and distinction for scholars, as they were adorned with gold medals for their unwavering academic excellence spanning an impressive seven-year streak. The esteemed Chief Guest gracing the event was Dr. Kiran Datar, the Chairperson of DPS Dwarka.
The ceremony commenced on an auspicious note with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. A cultural medley ensued, commencing with a harmonious overture by the School Band, followed by a soul-stirring performance from the school choir. An intellectually stimulating talk show on the 'Attributes of a Great Leader' captivated the audience, leaving them in awe.
Ms. Priya Narayanan, the esteemed Principal of Delhi Public School, Dwarka, extended her warmest congratulations to the remarkable Gold Medalists, the distinguished awardees of the Scholar Badge, and the School Appointees. Her words encapsulated a fervent blessing for them to persistently stride the path of triumph and accomplishment.
In her address, Madam Narayanan kindled a spark of hope, entrusting the newly inducted members with a noble mission. She fervently expressed her aspiration that their tenure be illuminated by the radiant virtues of honesty, commitment, integrity and dedication.
Such noble attributes, she remarked, would stand as beacons of inspiration, crafting a remarkable narrative for their juniors to not only admire but also emulate with unyielding admiration.
During her eloquent address, the Chief Guest congratulated the illustrious cohort of 36 gold medalists, the proud Scholar Badge recipients and the School Appointees.
Bestowing her advice upon the young minds present, Dr. Datar expounded that true leadership forms amidst the crucible of life's most daunting failures. It is through unyielding perseverance and unswerving dedication that one emerges triumphant. Dr. Datar illuminated the profound essence of authentic leadership—wherein lies the sublime art of "GIVING BACK." This entails a sacred obligation to reciprocate the benevolence of parents, the nurturing embrace of community, and the collective aspirations of the nation that enabled one's journey towards the pinnacles of achievement.
Guiding the newly anointed Student Cabinet with a profound sense of purpose, Dr. Datar called upon them to exhibit compassion that envelops not only their peers and juniors but extends to the very fabric of society.

It was a matter of great pride for DPS Dwarka to felicitate Ammie Arora, a student of Class X for her exceptional achievements as a Pianist. She has to her credit various national and international awards. Her name features in the World Book of Records for being the youngest Retro Female Pianist. To encourage and motivate young talents like her, the school Felicitated her with a cheque of ` 51,000/- along with a merit certificate.
The Chief Guest, adorned with badges and sashes, also administered the oath to the newly inducted student cabinet.
During the pledge, they committed themselves to upholding the school motto with utmost reverence. The Head Girls, Anika Kohli, Anoushka Vashisth, and Jia Shah, alongside the Head Boys, Arnav Narang, Satyam Dewan, and Shaurya Rai, extended their Vote of Thanks on behalf of the entire student council. They conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the school and their parents for entrusting them with responsibility and nurturing their self-belief.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of proud parents, witnessing their young wards taking on roles of leadership and achieving academic excellence.

'Our national anthem is the soul of our national pride'

'Jana Gana Mana', the Indian national anthem is composed by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. It pays a rich tribute to the nation, saluting its composite culture and its unity in diversity. It reiterates the allegiance all Indians bear to their beloved Motherland. Our national anthem is an expression of India's unity and sovereignty. It evokes feelings of solidarity and patriotism in all Indians, and binds the countrymen together.
The students of classes VI, VII and VIII presented assemblies on the topic 'The National Anthem, an expression of India's identity' in their respective classrooms. The objective of the assemblies was to understand not just the history and meaning of our national anthem, but also its significance as a symbol of India's identity.
Prayers invoking blessings for the nation and all countrymen were followed by motivational quotes, serving as an inspiring Thought for the Day for the students. Talk shows discussed the significance of the national anthem in evoking solidarity in all Indians, and bringing them together as one. Poems celebrated the beauty inherent in the lyrics and music of the Indian national anthem.
The immaculate assemblies reflected the creativity, planning and hard work of the students.

EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO THE DWARKA DISTRICT COURT

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised an enriching educational visit to the Dwarka District Court on Friday,18 August 2023 for the students of classes XI and XII studying Legal Studies. It was organised by the Southwest Delhi Legal Services Authority. A group of 52 students, accompanied by teachers had the privilege of witnessing the Legal proceedings in the Court of Additional Sessions Judge Ms. Manu Goel Kharb and Metropolitan Magistrate, Ms. Bharti Beniwal for POCSO case and Criminal case respectively.
This opportunity provided them a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of the District Courts.
The students were divided in two groups and two Legal Aid Councils Ms. Meenakshi and Ms. Deepika helped them understand the legal proceedings and  gave them clarity about the steps involved in court proceeding.
Students got a chance to interact with the Judges from the respective Courts. It helped them understand the nature of duties of Judicial officers, the role of the prosecutor and the defense lawyers.
This experience served as an inspiration to the students, encouraging them to choose Law as a career
Visit to the court was organised with the objective that students get to see the proceedings of the court in action which will eventually help them approach their academics in a better manner. Students learnt implementation of their theoretical knowledge in practical and professional ways.

WORLD SANSKRIT DAY

DPS Dwarka observed “World Sanskrit Day” on Friday, 18 August 2023 to honour the ancient Sanskrit language. This event was marked by engaging activities for Classes VI and VIII that highlighted the importance of Sanskrit language. Shlokas Recitation was held for Class VI where students showcased their linguistic skills by reciting Sanskrit Shlokas with utmost devotion & accuracy.

Insightful powerpoint presentations made by Class VIII students on History and significance of the subject were witnessed by students and teachers. These presentations delved into the history, evolution and profound influence of Sanskrit on various aspects and Indian culture.

This activity served as a reminder of the need to preserve and nurture this ancient language for future generations. Overall, the World Sanskrit Day celebration was a resounding success, fostering a sense of pride and awareness among students.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

SUPW CLUB

The Independence Day celebration holds great significance in our country as it marks the liberation from colonial rule and the birth of an independent nation. At DPS, Dwarka, various school clubs took part in organizing and participating in meaningful activities to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Mass media club organized role play, debate, slogans etc. effectively portrayed the sacrifices made by numerous freedom fighters and emphasized the importance of unity, patriotism, and the spirit of independence.
The Art and craft Club organized a poster-making competition with the theme "Celebrating Independence." Students also showcased their creativity by designing visually appealing posters, badges and tricolour flags reflecting the essence of independence, patriotism and national pride.
The students of Food and Nutrition Club prepared tricolour sandwiches and portrayed the pictures of tricoloured food items.
The celebration of Independence Day at DPS, Dwarka was a resounding success, thanks to the active participation and enthusiasm of various school clubs. These activities encouraged students to reflect upon the importance of Independence and  connect with their national identity.

INDIAN FREEDOM FIGHTERS

On Wednesday, 16 August 2023, an engaging event centered around the theme of "Indian Freedom Fighters" was organized by Ravi House for Class VI students. The event aimed to foster awareness and appreciation for the valiant individuals who played pivotal roles in India's struggle for independence.

The event commenced  with palpable enthusiasm radiating from the participants and was guided by a set of well-defined guidelines. Each of the four houses had three students selected to participate, making a total of twelve enthusiastic participants. The participants were required to either deliver a speech about an Indian Freedom Fighter or perform a monologue in the character's persona. This provided a platform for the young minds to express their creativity and communication skills while honoring the legacies of these great personalities.

The participants had the option to convey their thoughts in either English or Hindi, allowing them to communicate in the language they were most comfortable with. Additionally, to enhance the authenticity of their portrayal, participants  utilized props and basic costumes, such as headgears and fake moustaches, which aligned with the chosen freedom fighter's persona.

An important stipulation was that the 3 participants from each house had to choose distinct Indian Freedom Fighters, thus highlighting the diversity and multifaceted nature of the struggle for independence.

The event witnessed unmistakable enthusiasm emanating from the participants, who wholeheartedly embraced the opportunity to commemorate India's heroes. The event succeeded in not only educating the participants about the sacrifices and contributions of Indian Freedom Fighters but also in honing their public speaking and creative skills. The commendable efforts of both the participants and the organizing committee were evident throughout the event, making it a memorable and enlightening experience for all involved.

DPS Dwarka observed National Handloom Day on 11 August 2023. National Handloom Day is celebrated on August 7th every year in India to honour the rich tradition of handloom weaving and skilled artisans who contribute to this ancient craft. On the occasion of National Handloom Day, our school organized events for Classes
VII & VIII to educate and engage the students about the importance of handloom weaving.

By celebrating National handloom Day, students contributed to the promotion & continuation of this rich heritage through the events, Role Play by wearing Dresses made up of Handloom for Class VII and Power Point Presentation briefing Handloom Industries for Class VIII, ensuring that the skills and traditions of handloom weaving are passed down to future generations. The events in our school provided students with a deeper appreciation for the art of handloom.

BRIBOOKS

BriBooks, in collaboration with DPS Dwarka organised a Summer Book Writing Festival for students of Classes IV – XII. It provided a creative writing platform for kids, helping them to refine their ideas and creativity. Students had the opportunity to use AI – driven creative writing platform to write and publish their books. Some of the budding writers brought their stories to life by using templates, illustrations and editing tools provided by the Artificial Intelligence guided engines.
Some of the books published were ‘A Planetary Journey’ by Vihaan Arora of Class VI B, ‘Emily Finds the Lost Island’ by Parneet Kaur of Class VI F, ‘Mysterious and Spooky House’ by Reina Pahwa of Class VIII D, ‘The Story of a Dream’ by Geshna Malhhotra of Class VIII D, and ‘Scared Cat Stories’ by Havisha Chandna of  Class VIII D. This helped the students develop their skills and craft their unique narratives. It was indeed a great learning opportunity for these young authors who got their first book published. This experience has provided them with a lifelong love for reading, writing and entrepreneurship, and has also inspired other students to write and tell their stories to the world.

ACTIVITY ON REMEMBRANCE DAY: THE HORRORS OF PARTITION

CLASS : XI

Day/Date: Monday, 14 August 2023

On the occasion of the Remembrance Day, DPS Dwarka organised activities to mark  ‘The Horrors of Partition’ on Monday, 14 August 2023. The students of Class XI actively took part in the event which took place in the school auditorium.
The event began with the felicitation of the Guest, Ms. Somya Malik, Head, Department of Archives and Museology at Asiatic Society for Social Science Research, New Delhi. The students of class XI presented a Talk Show on the theme ‘Stories of Unsung Heroes’, inspiring the young generation to valiantly face challenges in life. They focused on the memories of partition, the pain, agony and suffering of the people at that time. Students also recited self-composed poems on this theme in a patriotic fervour.
The Guest speaker, Ms. Somya Malik talked about this sad historical event and the need to serve and archive all the information related to it. A quiz based on the theme was also conducted for the audience.
The event ended with a rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ by the School Choir followed by the National Anthem.

NIE WORKSHOP ON PUZZLE MAKING

• Introduction:

The Workshop on Puzzle Making for Class IX was organized with the aim of enhancing the problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and creativity of the students. The workshop focused on various types of puzzles, their construction, and the cognitive benefits they provide.

The workshop was organized by NIE resource person Ms. Preeti Gupta to enhance the creativity in children in making and solving puzzles. It was a great experience for the children. Everyone learnt a lot and had a lot of fun.

The Workshop on Puzzle Making for Class 9 was thoroughly enjoyed, with enthusiastic participation from the students. They left the workshop with a deeper understanding of puzzles and their benefits, as well as the ability to create their own puzzles. This experience will undoubtedly contribute to their overall cognitive development and problem-solving abilities.

WORLD NATURE CONSERVATION DAY

DPS Dwarka observed World Nature Conservation Day on Wednesday, 26 July 2023. The objective of this celebration was to spread awareness among students about protecting the Earth’s natural resources. To create this awareness among the students and to motivate the people to help save our environment, school organised an activity.The students enthusiastically participated in the activity & pledged to alter their habits & practice sustainable living with nature. Speech on World Nature Conservation Day was organised for Class VIII on Friday, 28 July 2023. World Nature Conservation Day is celebrated every year on July 28 across the world. Today the earth is facing challenges like climate change, deforestation, loss of habitat for wildlife, pollution and more. These activities were undertaken to make students aware about all issues and be responsible citizens.

On 15 August 2023, India commemorates 76 glorious years of independence. Independence Day symbolises the dawn of a new beginning. It honours our freedom fighters, the history of our country, its culture, and the nation's myriad achievements.
The students and faculty of Delhi Public School, Dwarka presented a special assembly to commemorate the 77th Independence Day of India. At the outset Priya Narayanan ma’am, Principal D. P. S. Dwarka led the prayer, invoking the Almighty to raise every Indian to higher levels of self-awareness and spirit of service- to country and countrymen. The school choir rendered reverence to their great nation India, through a patriotic song. The inspiring lyrics and soul-stirring music caused every heart in the audience to swell with patriotic fervour and pride on being an Indian. Poems were recited to pay homage to the glory of our nation, and to celebrate the valour of the Indian soldier, the sentinel of our freedom. A talk show took its audience on a walk through the annals of the Indian freedom struggle. It reintroduced the students to some great freedom fighters and their zealous vision of a free and independent India.
The assembly was immaculately planned and presented. The scripts were terse and performances earnest. Through music, poetry and dialogue the students presented the splendour and glory of their Motherland down the ages to the present day. They shared their vision of India as a world leader in several spheres in the coming future. ‘Nation First, Always First’ was the quintessence of the presentation.

INTER-HOUSE ENGLISH DEBATE COMPETITION

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organized an Inter-House English Debate Competition on Friday, 28 July 2023 for classes IX and XI. The event was held in the school auditorium and was attended by students and teachers. The participants were required to speak either FOR or AGAINST the motion.

The topic for the debate given to class IX was "Whether Technology Is Making People Less Productive?" The students in the affirmative argued that technology is a distraction and that it is making people lazy. They cited examples of how people are more likely to spend their time on social media or playing video games than on productive activities. The students in the negative argued that technology can actually make people more productive. They pointed out that technology can be used to automate tasks, access information quickly, and collaborate with others.

The topic for the debate for class XI was "Should Humans Invest in Technology to Colonize Other Planets?" The students in the affirmative argued that colonizing other planets is essential for the survival of the human species. They pointed out that the Earth is finite and that we are running out of resources. They also argued that colonizing other planets would allow us to expand our knowledge and understanding of the universe. The students in the negative argued that colonizing other planets is too expensive and risky. They also argued that we should focus on solving problems on Earth before we start thinking about colonizing other planets.

The debates were well-argued and both sides presented strong points. The audience was engaged and there was a lot of cheering and applause. In the end, the judge evaluated the students on the basis of content, language, voice modulation and presentation.

The Inter-House English Debate Competition was a great success. It was a learning experience for all the students involved and it helped them to develop their public speaking skills and critical thinking abilities. The event was enjoyed by everyone who attended.

INTER HOUSE ENGLISH DEBATE COMPETITION

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised an Inter House English Debate Competition on Friday, 28 July 2023 for classes IX and XI.
We are living in an era of advanced technology which is rapidly transforming our future. Technology is incorporated into every aspect of our lives and the idea of colonizing other planetary bodies has been popular for decades. Keeping this in mind, the topic selected for class IX was – “Whether Technology is Making People Less Productive?” and the topic selected for class XI was – “Should Humans Invest in Technology to colonize other Planets?”
The aim of organizing debate competition was to hone the public speaking skills of the students and teach them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions.
Three students from each house presented their arguments with conviction and clarity. The audience was also captivated by the debates and cheered on their favourite participants.
The event was a great learning experience for all.

IMMERSIVE LEARNING WORKSHOP

CLASSES: V- XII
Day/Date: Saturday, 5th August 2023

A workshop on Immersive Learning was conducted for all the Science teachers of Primary and Senior Wing teaching classes V to XII by Homilab organisation. Homilab provides courses and content that has been carefully curated with experts from all around the globe.
Ms. Gunja Kapoor Head of Operation and Mr. Shahan Warsi Senior Developer of AR and VR were the Resource persons from Homilab organisation.
Ms. Gunja Kapoor briefed about the courses offered by them for the students and focused on the academic areas which can be strengthened by different modules of their course content. She also shared the details about the course material like number of modules, duration of the entire course and each module.
Various activities and simulation were demonstrated through the Virtual Reality platform which were effective and informative.
The workshop ended with question and answer session where the queries of the teachers were answered. They also shared brochure highlighting the features and the facilities offered by them.

EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION TO THE PARLIAMENT HOUSE

CLASSES: XI & XII
Day/Date: Tuesday, 01 August 2023

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised an enriching educational trip to the Parliament House on Tuesday, 01 August 2023 for classes XI and XII. A group of 61 students, accompanied by teachers had the privilege of witnessing the proceedings of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. This opportunity provided them with a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of the Parliament.
The students were granted an exclusive audience with the Lok Sabha Secretariat along with other distinguished members of the Lok Sabha. They elucidated the intricacies of parliamentary functions and the pivotal role played by the two Houses. The students also witnessed a session conducted within the confines of the new Parliament complex, boasting a remarkable 888 seating capacity in the Lok Sabha Chamber and 384 seats in the Rajya Sabha Chamber. Additionally, the Lok Sabha can accommodate a total of 1272 seats during joint sessions, showcasing the magnificence of the legislative setup.
This experience served as an inspiration to the students, encouraging them to contemplate a future in politics, recognizing the nation's pressing need for youthful leaders.
Over all the visit proved to be truly enlightening as it enhanced the students’ understanding of the nation's democratic processes and leadership dynamics.

The Social Service Initiative Club of Delhi Public School Dwarka organised ‘Shramdaan’ in the month of July 2023 for the students of classes 6-9. The value of serving the society and spreading awareness about each individual’s contribution towards society was inculcated in students during this month.
A ‘Cleanliness Drive’ was conducted in the second week of July where students were encouraged to clean their surroundings to help children understand the importance and methods of handling waste responsibly and try to take a step towards a cleaner environment.
On 19 July 2023, an awareness program was conducted on ‘How to Stay Healthy’ aimed to spread awareness among the young children about maintenance of weight, diet and physical activity. After the program, students made insightful PowerPoint Presentations on the topic to show their understanding.
Throughout the month, a voluntary donation was collected for ‘Indian Association for the Blind’ to support the education and rehabilitation of visually challenged people. This was carried out with the aim of raising awareness about the potential and difficulties faced by visually challenged individuals.
The students participated enthusiastically in all the activities with zeal and vigour.

WORLD NATURE CONSERVATION DAY

DPS Dwarka observed World Nature Conservation Day on Wednesday, 26 July 2023. The objective of this celebration was to spread awareness among students about protecting the Earth’s natural resources. To create this awareness among the students and to motivate the people to help save our environment, school organised an activity “Making a Bird Feeder” using paper/cardboard/wood for Class VII. The students enthusiastically participated in the activity & pledged to alter their habits & practice sustainable living with nature. Speech on World Nature Conservation Day was organised for Class VIII on Friday, 28 July 2023. World Nature Conservation Day is celebrated every year on July 28 across the world. Today the earth is facing challenges like climate change, deforestation, loss of habitat for wildlife, pollution and more. These activities were undertaken to make students aware about all issues and be responsible citizens.

Delhi Public School, Dwarka celebrated Scholar Badge Ceremony on Thursday, 27 July 2023 to felicitate the meritorious scholars of class XI for the session  2022-2023.

 Mr. M. Harsha Vardhan, IPS, DCP Dwarka, was the esteemed Chief Guest for the occasion.

The ceremony commenced with an enigmatic performance by the school band setting the tone for the event. After the ceremonial lighting of lamp, a soulful rendition of 'Dream is possible' by the School Choir transported the audience to the musical cosmos. The highlight of the day was an inspiring Talk Show instilling self- belief and confidence, presented by the students of class XI on the topic ‘Believe in Yourself.'

Ms Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka expressed her pride in the achievements of the young scholars and reminded them that Self- discipline leads to self-confidence and helps one stay focused and motivated.

Mr M. Harsha Vardhan , in his address, congratulated the young scholars and their parents . He urged them to always be ahead and make best possible use of every opportunity and thus be of service to the society.

This was followed by the ceremony wherein the Chief Guest presented Scholar Blazers, Blue Ties, Badges and Certificates to the students for their outstanding academic achievements and wished them success for their future endeavours.

SCHOLAR BADGE CEREMONY

Delhi Public School, Dwarka celebrated Scholar Badge Ceremony on Wednesday, 26 July 2023 to felicitate the meritorious scholars of classes VIII, IX & X.

Ms Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka expressed her pride in the achievements of the young scholars and gave them a valuable advice that ‘Success does not lie in 'results' but in 'efforts'. Being the best is not so important. Doing the best is all that matters.’

Dr Jyoti, in her address, suggested the parents to be patient and allow their wards to work with openness which is critical to developing a strong sense of self. She said that today’s children have the potential to be like Ramanujan and Einstein, sky is the limit for them, all we need to give them is the right exposure.

RESILIENCE BUILDING

About the workshop
On July 21st, 2023, an informative and engaging profile building workshop titled "Resilience Building" took place within the premises of Delhi Public School (DPS), Dwarka. The workshop was thoughtfully designed to cater to the specific needs and aspirations of the school's 9th-grade students, aiming to equip them with valuable skills and knowledge for enhancing their personal profiles and overall growth. Ms. Smritika Saggi; senior counselor, DPS dwarka, spearheaded the workshop for nurturing young minds.

Purpose of the workshop

The rationale of the session was to emphasise the importance of resilience and how it plays a pivotal role in shaping one's character and navigating through life's challenges. Throughout the workshop, Ms. Smritika Saggi shared inspirational stories of individuals who had overcome adversities and setbacks, reinforcing the message of resilience and perseverance. These real-life examples resonated deeply with the students, inspiring them to embrace challenges with a positive mindset and the determination to succeed.

Furthermore, it instilled a sense of self-belief and empowerment among the students, enabling them to envision their goals with renewed clarity and determination. The workshop emphasized the significance of a growth mindset, positive attitude, and flexibility when facing challenges. Students also learned the importance of seeking support and advice from trusted individuals, recognizing it as strength rather than a weakness.
As the workshop came to its end, students were asked to clarify their doubts and share their learnings in brief.

Conclusion:
Indeed, the "Resilience Building" workshop at DPS, Dwarka, exemplified the school's commitment to nurturing not just academically proficient individuals, but also resilient, well-rounded, and future-ready leaders of tomorrow.

DPS Dwarka observed Nelson Mandela International Day on 18 July 2023. We at DPS Dwarka ensure that our children grow up to be responsible citizens. This day is marked to celebrate his contributions in the field of peace & freedom. Through this special event, the students of Class VI were taught to imbibe the attributes of equality, peace & empathy.

DPS Dwarka observed International Plastic Bag Free Day on Monday, 17th July 2023. To mark the occasion students of class VIII joined the worldwide drive and chose to protect the planet and preserve the environment. A paper presentation activity on the topic ‘Plastic Waste: Its effects on the environment’ was conducted to sensitise the students on the harmful effects of Plastic Bags on the environment. Overall the event was a success as the students were encouraged to use reusable bags and discard plastic bags.

DPS Dwarka organised SUMMER SPORTS COACHING CAMP for the students of Classes IV to IX & XI from 20 to 31 May 2023 in the school premises.
The camp aimed to refine the athletic skills and enhance overall physical fitness of the students. Many team building games like Basketball, Cricket, Football, Badminton , Chess and Yoga were offered to the students.
Students were trained under skilled coaches, who focussed on giving professional training. During the summer camp, emphasis was on giving individual training to the students so as to hone their skills in the sport of their choice. The students were taught about the fundamentals of different games and information about the latest rules and regulations of the game were also explained.
These games helped the students to enhance their coordination and physical fitness. A total of 354 students from Classes IV- IX & XI enthusiastically participated in the Summer camp. It was a great learning experience for them.

GLOBAL WARMING WEEK

DPS Dwarka observed Global Warming Week from 08-12 May 2023 to mark the occasion. Various activities were conducted throughout the week to sensitize the students towards the need to preserve and protect the environment.

Class Assemblies were organised in each section. Students took a pledge to ‘save the Earth’ and be responsible citizens.

The aim of the celebration was to help the students understand and address the impact of the climate crises and empower them with knowledge, skills, values and attitude needed to act as agents of change.

WORKSHOP ON ‘AWARENESS ABOUT ONLINE CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND LAUNCH OF CYBER AWARENESS VIDEOS’

Date: 25 May 2023

15 students accompanied by two teachers attended a workshop on ‘Awareness about online Child Sexual Exploitation and launch of Cyber Awareness videos’ organised at the Delhi High Court on 25 May 2023.
The session was graced by Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, Dr. Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud. Other prominent Judges of the Supreme Court were also present.

Students were made aware of the online sexual abuse through various videos on Cyber bullying. They were advised to say alert and beware of  online predators. Justice P.S. Narsinha spoke about how children should protect themselves and seek help of elders, if required. He emphasised that children should not share their personal information with anyone on an online platform.
It was a highly informative and educative session for the students

NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY WEEK CELEBRATION

DPS Dwarka celebrated National Technology Week (extended) from 11 to 16 May 2023. Various activities and competitions were organised for the students of Classes VI  to IX.

Class VIII and IX : Quiz competition

The competitions aimed at promoting creativity and innovation in the field of technology in the young learners. Students participated enthusiastically in all the events.
Winners were felicitated with Certificates as a token of appreciation.

A Logical Reasoning Workshop was conducted in the school auditorium on Tuesday, 16 May 2023 for the students of class XI (all sections) and class XII (Commerce & Humanities).
In today world, when we think of all university exams, we think of logical reasoning because nothing makes our brain stronger and sharper than logical reasoning. Logical reasoning is required in CUET, CAT and various other examinations.
Mr. Saurav Chaudhuri, Alumnus of Indian Statistical Institute (All India Rank 7) was the resource person for the workshop. He is the lead author of 3 research papers, one of which has been translated in eight different languages. He has climbed  Mount Everest twice on behalf of National Geographic.
The session introduced the students to the world of logical reasoning where various shortcut methods were explained.
Overall it was a very informative and enriching session.

MOSAIC – THE ART CLUB

Mosaic the Art Club of DPS Dwarka organised Art Competitions on Tuesday, 16 May 2023 to celebrate the International Family Day. The competitions were organised for classes VI – VIII.

The event was an attempt to recognised their talent and give students a platform to sensitize them about family values. The event was a grand success as students participated enthusiastically.

MADHUBANI PAINTING COMPETITION

Mosaic – The Art Club of DPS Dwarka organised a Madhubani Painting Competition on Monday, 15 May 2023. The aim was to promote creativity and an understanding of folk art among the young learners.
Students from Classes VI – XII participated and created beautiful and awe inspiring artworks.

FAMILY IS THE HEART OF A HOME!

Families are the compass that guides us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter.

A strong family identity helps children feel secure and loved. It gives them a sense of belonging, and provides a stable foundation during times of change. A healthy family unit is key to the welfare of its members and to the well-being of society as a whole. With the purpose of promoting awareness to the issues that surround families and to improve the well-being of families around the globe, the United Nations General Assembly initiated the observance of the International Day of Families in 1993. The International Day of Families honours the importance of families in all societies.

Assemblies applauding the import of the family for the health of the individual as well as society, were presented in their classrooms by the students of classes VI, VII, VIII and IX. The assemblies started with prayers. Motivational quotations were shared as ‘A Thought For The Day’ to inspire the students. News from around the globe was read out next. Talk shows followed in which the students shared their perspectives on the family being the crux of society.

The scripts were creative and innovative, and the presentations effective.

SULABH INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF TOILETS

As an endeavour to engender interest and awareness among our students, an educational trip to the Sulabh International Museum of Toilets was organized for students of class VI. The Museum has a rare collection of objects, pictures and exhibits detailing the historic evolution of toilets from 2500 BC to date. 

Students saw an impressive collection of toilet furniture, bidets and water closets in use from 1145 AD to the modern times.  They were shown an eye-opening movie on water contamination and steps to prevent it. Students were also shown the different ways in which government has made pits for waste collection in rural toilets.

The tour of the museum also included an informative demonstration on the creation of biogas with organic waste. Students were educated on the efforts of the Sulabh organisation in controlling open defecation and imparting education to the weaker sections of society.

The educational trip was indeed fruitful with the students being exposed to many hitherto undiscovered facts and efforts of people like Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak (founder of Sulabh International Social Service Organisation).

STUDY AND EXAM SKILLS

About the Workshop
On May 10th, 2023, the school collaborated with Fortis Healthcare to host an informative workshop on study and exam skills. The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Kamna Sarin, a highly experienced and practicing clinical psychologist who specializes in addressing challenges faced by students in academic settings.
During the workshop, Ms. Sarin shared valuable insights and practical strategies on how students can improve their study and exam skills to excel in their academic pursuits. The session covered various topics such as time management, note-taking, active reading, memory techniques, exam strategies, test anxiety, goal setting, study groups, and online learning. The workshop on study and exam skills was specifically organized for students of class 10 and 11 with the rationale of equipping them with appropriate strategies for not only preparing for an exam but also for the skills required during an examination. These classes are critical junctures in a student's academic journey as they prepare for important board examinations and other competitive exams.
The workshop was designed to provide students with practical guidance on how to study, subjects to cater in a day, hours to be dedicated each day, planning for hobbies, concepts of reinforcement, and much more. The session also focused on helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are essential for success in academic and professional settings. By providing students with these essential skills, the workshop aimed to not only improve their academic performance but also build their confidence and reduce stress related to exams. Students who develop effective study and exam skills are better equipped to manage their academic workload and succeed in their academic pursuits. Additionally, the workshop aimed to reduce stress related to exams by providing students with effective exam strategies and techniques for managing test anxiety. This is an important aspect of student wellbeing and can positively impact their academic performance and mental health.
Conclusion
Overall, the workshop was a proactive and valuable initiative by the school to invest in the success and wellbeing of its students. By providing them with the necessary tools and strategies to achieve academic success and prepare for their future endeavors, the school is helping its students to thrive in all aspects of their lives.

INTERNATIONAL MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, Rabindra Jayanti was celebrated by the students of Classes VI to VIII on Tuesday, 09 May 2023. Students recited poems composed by the ‘Bard of Bengal’. A presentation highlighting the life and works of the Nobel laureate was shown to students in the classrooms. It was an enriching experience for the students as they were made aware of the poems, novels, plays, short stories and paintings of the great legend which continue to inspire us. Students enthusiastically participated in all the activities.

A workshop was conducted by the members of Robodex Club for class VI students during long home room on Tuesday, 09 May 2023. Senior members of the club conducted the workshop under the guidance of the teacher incharges. A brief introduction about the club activities was given, thereafter with a PPT and video, a  presentation on how to construct a wired robotic car was explained in details. A live demonstration of a robotic car was shown and queries from the students were resolved.
The excitement of the young technocrats in making was immense.

Laughter is defined as a ‘the manifestation of mirth, amusement or joy’. It Is appreciably more. It is a potion that boosts the immune system, a balm that eases the wrinkles on our faces, a bouquet that soothes stress, and a magic wand that heals relationships, bringing positive changes to all aspects of our lives.

In appreciation of this mechanism of joy, the students of classes VI to IX presented assemblies on the topic ‘Laughter is our well-being’. The assemblies were presented in their respective classrooms.

After the morning prayers, suitable quotations were presented as ‘Thought for the Day’. News updated the assemblage on the national and international scenario. Humorous poems brightened spirits. Thenceforth, followed the talk shows which discussed the benefits of laughter and its immutable bond with human well-being.
The assemblies were well-prepared, well-scripted and well-coordinated.

‘Real museums are places where Time is transformed into Space.’

The wise understand that knowing the past is the fundamental bedrock on which the future is built. Though there are several ways of learning about the past, museums play a crucial role in preserving history and heritage. Museums help to keep heritage alive. They exist to present objects of interest from the past, to instruct the visitors on their significance and to guard these objects from destruction. Museums are necessary because they are a way to preserve and share history and culture. They provide a way for people to learn about other cultures and to appreciate the arts.

The students of classes VI to IX expressed their perspectives on the topic through assemblies presented in their classrooms. After presenting the prayers, they shared inspiring quotations on the theme. News from around the nation and the world followed. Poems on the role and significance of museums in preserving heritage were recited. Talk shows discussed the role of museums in showcasing the heritage of a country, and in enlightening the people about their culture and history.

The students had researched the topic meticulously. They had practised hard to put up flawless assemblies.

CLASSES VI-VIII

With these words resounding in our hearts and minds, AEON, the History Club today organized a plethora of activities to commemorate World Heritage Day. Our objective was to edify the students about this day and the need to preserve our heritage.
The following activities were undertaken-
1. Traditional Indian Art making - To showcase the beauty of traditional Indian artforms, students of class VI made a drawing using any one of the Indian art techniques given to them which were Mandala art, Warli art and Kalamkari.

2. Menu Making - Students of class VII had to make an attractive menu showcasing the local cuisine of any one Indian state or Union Territory of their choice. The menu included pictures of at least 3-4 local dishes of the chosen state as well as at least   2-3 lines of information on each dish.

                                                 
3. Brochure Making - Students of class VIII were required to select any one Indian state or Union Territory of their liking and make an attractive travel brochure for it. The brochure included information about the state/UT’s history, festivals, cuisine, language, music, culture etc.

All the activities were executed well and achieved our objective. It was an effort in the right direction.                                   

Mr. Nakul Shairwal, Head of Counselling Division, EduMentor, conducted a counselling session on Decoding CEUT for classes XI & XII (All Sections) on Thursday, 27 April 2023 at the school auditorium.
He introduced the students to the new pattern of CEUT.  He enlightened the students about the number of questions in each section along with the time duration for solving them.
Mr. Shairwal also informed the students about the different courses which they can do after class XII and the different colleges which offer these courses. He also informed them about the domain subjects which they can choose for the various courses.
Overall it was a very enriching and informative session.

INTER HOUSE HERITAGE QUIZ

In an endeavour to enhance awareness about our rich heritage and historical sites, an Inter house quiz competition was organised by the students of Quiz club of DPS Dwarka. The students of classes IX, X & XI participated in the same.

Also to sensitize students about the necessity of conservation of these heritage sites, a talk show on Balancing Tourism and Conservation of Heritage sites was presented by the students of History club to conclude the event.

FINANCIAL AND RISK MANAGEMENT AS A CAREER OPTION

In keeping with ‘Nurturing the Roots’ programme, our school alumnus, Ms. Garima Gulati, batch of 2017, was invited on Tuesday, 25 April 2023 to take a session on ‘Financial and Risk Management as a Career Option’ and interact with the students of classes XI (all sections) and XII (Commerce and Humanities).
Garima Gulati is a certified Financial Risk Manager and is currently working as a Senior Compliance and Operational Risk Management Analyst with American Express Bank.
She talked about risk management and explained it well with the help of real life examples. She enlightened the students about the skill sets needed on the road to become a risk manager.
Students came to know about the benefits of risk management in various organisations and how they can create a career in this emergent field.
The students put up their queries related to the field which was handled by her very promptly and proficiently.
Overall it was a very interactive and informative session.

OUR HERITAGE MAKES US UNIQUE

Tourism is a vehicle for presenting heritage to the public, conserving it and ensuring its economic and social potential. Hence, tourism is a balancing mechanism that preserves and protects the heritage. Today, both tourism and heritage sites are susceptible to exogenic and endogenic changes,for example, the recent COVID-19 challenge and the resultant social and economic crisis. It becomes imperative to theoretically and practically define the Heritage-Tourism reciprocal relationship to ensure the sustainability of tourism and heritage alike.

The students of Delhi Public School, Dwarka recognise the belief that Heritage sites are for everyone and need to be preserved for posterity. In a bid to merge this conviction with the concern over the impact of tourism on heritage sites, they attempted to raise awareness on the topic through the medium of class assemblies.

The students of classes VI, VII, VIII and IX, presented assemblies in their respective classrooms on the topic ‘Balancing Tourism and Conservation at Heritage Sites’. They researched and understood  the subject thoroughly before presenting it. After the morning prayers, stimulating quotations on the topic inspired empathy. This was followed by poems on using tourism as a tool to benefit conservation. Talk shows followed. These chronicled the theme in detail. They detailed how tourism is one of the world’s largest industries. Besides earning revenue it can also promote cultural values. A healthy interrelationship between tourism and Heritage can materialize through careful planning, canvassing and building awareness. This will be a win-win situation for everyone involved: the site is better protected and maintained, the tourist experiences a more pleasant visit, and the local economy is boosted as a result.

The students participated zealously, the topic intrigued and interested them, they worked diligently to put up noteworthy assemblies.

CLASSES VI - VIII

Mahatma Gandhi believed that it is not cleanliness only that is important, but a social order based on equal status is the essence of Shramdaan. Religious harmony, equality of all religions and acceptance of diversity in the society are the basis for Shramdaan activities. A hundred years ago, Mahatma Gandhi began to move Indian society in the direction of nationhood, and no doubt Shramdaan is a great way to achieve it.
The word Shramdaan means labour (Shram) and donation (Daan). Shramdaan means a voluntary contribution by the person towards community welfare involving physical effort. It is a way of helping our community and contributing to help and change the environment around us for better. In order to inculcate this value in the present generation, Shramdaan activity was organised in their Library periods for classes VI, VII and VIII.
CLASS: VI

The topic for activity / competition were:

1. Card making
2. Slogan
3. Quotation

The children had to choose one topic and perform the activity. The activity was done in form of a competition. .
CLASS: VII Slogan Writing

Students were given brief introduction about the activity. As  Shramdaan is essential for the wholesome development of the society, including the person himself. Shramdaan activities motivated children  to live in hygienic surroundings. Shramdaan inculcated  importance of cleanliness and green environment.
Slogan writing competition was organized for class VII. Students came up with brilliant ideas . This also motivated them to contribute in keeping the surrounding clean and green .
Class VIII Poster Making

Children were told about dignity of labour, activity was conducted effectively.The  message of keeping school clean and green was well conveyed.
The children were selected on the basis of their creativity and innovative ideas. They  enjoyed the activity, showed enthusiasm and willingness to work and were contented working in their respective groups.

‘LIFE OF A RADIO JOCKEY’

In keeping with ‘Nurturing the Roots’ programme, our school alumnus, Rabia Singh Sethi, batch of 2013, was invited on Monday, 24 April 2023 to share her experience as a ‘Radio Jockey’.
Rabia Sethi is currently working as a Radio Jockey in Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM   prime time. She has worked with Zabardast Hit, 95 FM, My FM and All India Radio hosted more than 500 shows and has interviewed and interacted with many celebrities.
In the session ‘Life of a Radio Jockey’, she talked about her journey into this creative field, the challenges she faces every day and the fun filled life she enjoys as a Radio Jockey.
Rabia inspired the students to chase their dream career and motivated them to follow their passion and work hard to make it a reality. The students loved to interact with her.

DPS Dwarka Sports Department has organised The FITNESS WEEK from 17 April 2023 to 20 April 2023 for Boys and Girls of Classes VI to IX.

Yoga is beneficial for Physical and Mental Wellbeing of the individuals. It helps to relax and rejuvenate the body and mind. With this aim, the activities of The FITNESS WEEK were started with a Yoga session.

Various indigenous games like Kho-Kho and Tug of war were played by the students. Approximately 1000 students from classes VI-IX  participated enthusiastically in this fitness week.

This programme helped in the overall development of the students as it is based on the component of physical fitness which includes speed, strength, endurance, flexibility and co-coordinative abilities. These types of activities are very beneficial for the students and can be conducted quarterly.

Earth Day is observed on 22 April every year. DPS Dwarka observed Earth Week from
17 to 19 April 2023 to mark the occasion. Various activities were conducted throughout the week to sensitize the students towards the need to preserve and protect the environment.

A Special Assembly was organised to celebrate Earth Day. Students of Classes VI–VIII presented a Talk Show on ‘Earth Day’. The school Choir presented melodious song highlighting the importance of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

CBSE SCIENCE CHALLENGE

DPS Dwarka organised Round 1 of the CBSE SCIENCE CHALLENGE 2023 for the students of classes VIII to X on 20 April 2023.
643 students participated in the competition. The aim was to generate curiosity, enquiry and higher order thinking amongst the learners. The theme of the competition was Science, Environment and Sustainability.
Top two students from each class have been selected to participate in Round 2 which will be conducted by CBSE in the second week of May.

Jitin Chawla’s Centre for Career Development organized a two-day leadership camp for class IX-XII students at Delhi Public School, Dwarka from 18th-19th April, 2023. The primary objective of this camp was to provide a platform for the students to gain knowledge, exposure, and experience in various leadership skills. The program was aimed at instilling a sense of enthusiasm, learning, and motivation among the students.
A group of 18 students actively participated in the program, showcasing their eagerness to learn and grow. The camp offered various activities and workshops, including team-building exercises, leadership training, and motivational talks, to help students develop their critical thinking, decision-making, and communication skills. The camp involved a wide range of activities and workshops designed to challenge and inspire students to step outside their comfort zones. The camp featured guest speakers, who gave valuable insights and perspectives on leadership and personal growth. Participants received ample opportunities to network with other students, share their experiences, and learn from each other. A mix of team-building exercises, public speaking workshops, career counseling sessions, and outdoor adventure activities were executed in this two day program. These activities were led by experienced facilitators who have a background in education, entrepreneurship, and leadership development. The purpose of all the event segments was to help participants develop the skills they need to succeed in their future endeavors, whether that's college or higher classes, the workforce, or other paths. By challenging themselves, learning from others, and developing their leadership abilities, students can gain the confidence they need to achieve their goals and make a positive impact on their communities.

A CREATIVE HORIZON: LIFE OF A CHEF

As a part of ‘Nurturing the Roots’ programme an interactive session on A CREATIVE HORIZON: LIFE OF A CHEF was organised for the students of classes XI and XII of our school on Wednesday, 19 April 2023 in the school auditorium. Shubham Thakur, Chef de Cuisine at The Leela Palace, New Delhi, our school alumnus, batch of 2010, was invited to talk about his life as a chef.

Shubham has won several awards and accolades for his outstanding work. The restaurant Megu, under his leadership was awarded 49th best restaurant in Asia by Asia 50 in 2022. He bagged chef of the year by Times Food and Nightlife Award 2019, best premium dining in oriental by Times of India 2022, to name a few.

LAW AS A CAREER OPTION & CAREER IN DIGITAL MARKETING

‘Nurturing the Roots’ programme is an initiative to connect alumni with the students of our school so that they can guide them and inspire them to make informed career choices and excel in life.
Dr. Ananant Vijay Maria, Advocate Supreme Court of India, batch of 2008, was invited on Tuesday, 18 April 2023, to speak about ‘Law as a Career Option’. He took an enlightening session for the students of class XI, in which he discussed about the job prospects in law, eligibility criteria, entrance exams, courses offered by various universities, salaries and the pros & cons of pursuing law as a career.
Akriti Gulati, Senior Account Manager at Dentsu International, batch of 2012, was also invited to speak about the career opportunities in the field of Digital Marketing. She spoke about the scope, qualifications and skill-sets required and the pay packages offered in this field. She also talked about the specialisation, work diversity and creative space that one can find in this domain.
The students came to know about various options in law such as litigation, arbitration, human rights, corporate law and many more. They also came to know much about digital marketing, content writing, social media marketing, data science, online advertising and other sub fields of marketing in digital domain.  The interactive session ended with the students’ queries that were very well answered by them.

Mr. Gaurav Bhatara from AB Tutorials conducted a workshop on Monday,  17 April 2023 on the topic “Law as a career” in India and abroad in the school auditorium. It was attended by students of classes XII (Humanities) and   XI (Commerce and Humanities). Mr. Bhatara spoke about various career options as to become a Legal advisor, opening up own firms, giving judicial services exam etc. He also guided students on how to prepare for CLAT and AILET. He also spoke about the various universities in India and abroad which offers Law courses after class XII and the admission criteria for them.

Overall it was a very informative session for those who are planning to take law as a career.

Mr. Ritesh Jain from Pratham conducted a workshop on Monday, 17 April 2023 on the topic “Emerging Careers” in India and abroad in the school auditorium. It was attended by students of classes XII (Commerce & Humanities) and XI (all sections). Mr. Jain spoke about various career options like B. Tech in Economics and Finance, BBA FIA, Data Sciences etc. He also spoke about the various universities in India and abroad which offer unique courses after class XII and the admission criteria for them.
Overall it was a very informative session.

A workshop on study abroad opportunities was conducted  for the students of Classes XI & XII on 11 April 2023 in the School Auditorium. Representatives of various foreign universities namely California State University, East Bay, Burgundy School of Business France and Lone Star College, Texas were invited for the same.
Mr. Thomas Tyner- Executive Director of International Programs California, State University East Bay, Farzad Shahbodaghlon- International Recruitment California East Bay, Mr. Prakash Saklani- International  Recruitment Manager, Indian Sub- Continent from Burgundy School of Business and Anoop Yadav- an Indian representative from Lone Star College, Texas were the resource persons.
200 students of Class XI and XII attended the session. The session was conducted to apprise students about various career options. They briefed the students about the significance of doing Internship Programmes and coming closer to one’s interest in a particular subject or career of their choice.
They gave a holistic view of applying to foreign universities and the details of their respective institutions which includes the application process, credit systems &transfer, location, important timelines, documentation required for profile building, fee structure and placement prospects.
Overall it was a comprehensive well conceptualized and  highly informative session on every aspect related to Career Guidance in foreign universities.

'Waste does not exist in nature because ecosystems reuse everything that grows in a never-ending cycle of efficiency and purpose.'

Human activity is having a major impact on the planet. Homo sapiens consume a large proportion of the productivity of the land and oceans. Our waste pollutes the water, warms the atmosphere and acidifies the oceans. To save the environment from the toxic effects of inorganic and biodegradable elements present in waste, an effective programme to handle waste management is imperative.

With the aim to awaken all students to the indispensability of this basic, yet essential programme, the students of classes VI, VII and VIII planned and presented assemblies in their classrooms. Prayers, motivational quotes to inspire all and News from around the world were followed by talk shows. Herein, the students discussed the 7 R's of Waste Management, its importance and how students can contribute to spreading awareness about it.

The assemblies were well coordinated, with engaging content and eloquent performances.

PARIKSHA PE CHARCHA 2023

The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India interacted with students, teachers and parents during Pariksha Pe Charcha 2023 at Talkatora Statdium, New Delhi on 27 January 2023 at 11:00 a.m. onwards. The PM interacted with the parents and teachers to help  and enable them to support students to accomplish all their dreams and goals. This initiative was launched in the year 2018 to ease out the stress and tension of students appearing for examination. The PM addressed the students and asked them to remain stress free and revise all the concepts. He advised them to prepare in advance and not to panic. He even spoke about not using unfair means during exams and instead focus on the strengths. Later, he emphasized that the parents and teachers should not pressurize students with their own unfulfilled dreams and aspirations. 
In the end, he wished the students the very best for their upcoming exams.

This entire session was attended live by the students of Classes VI-IX in the school auditorium and they were motivated by the PM’s interaction and were happy to have got the opportunity to witness Pariksha Pe Charcha by the hon’ble Prime Minister.

INDIAN METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT ART COMPETITION

An interschool painting competition was held by the Indian Meteorological Department on 22 December 2022 to celebrate their 148th year since its founding for students to display their creativity and artistic expression through paintings.

The event started early morning, the students were welcomed and shown a presentation regarding the essentials about climate and its probabilistic mannerisms. The students were escorted through the buildings and shown models of their satellites. The event started soon after with the topic 'Sunshine after a rainy day' being announced. The students were given 2 hours to complete the paintings and were given snack boxes near the end. With the completion of two hours, students were given certificates and a gift hamper consisting of art supplies. On 15 January 2023, the winners of the competition were felicitated with certificates, trophies and cash prizes by the Minister of Science and Technology as well as Earth Sciences.

The event in entirety ended with a speech by the Ministers and pictures were taken cementing the event. "Opportunities like these are special and should be grabbed while having the chance", said one of the parents

ROAD SAFETY ASSEMBLY AND ACTIVITIES

Road Safety refers to the methods and measures used to prevent road users from harm. Road Safety Awareness is a useful way by which people become aware of road safety and traffic rules.

In the third week of January the students of classes VI - IX and XI observed Road Safety Awareness week through a plethora of activities in their classrooms. The students created posters on road safety, made educative power points on the topic and held talk shows.

On 17 January 2023 the students presented class assemblies on the topic of Road Safety, wherein, they shared with their classmates the importance of road safety. The students became familiarised with the road signs and the road safety rules. It was a learning experience for all students.

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised Farewell -The Blessing Ceremony for the students of Class XII on Wednesday, 28 December 2022. The programme began with lighting of the lamp followed by prayer and blessings for the outgoing batch. Special titles were awarded to the students acknowledging their contribution and appreciating their hard work.

Students of class XI presented a beautiful cultural programme comprising song, dance, skit and stand up comedy. Head boys and Head girls of the school expressed their gratitude to the school and their teachers for nurturing them into confident and competent individuals.

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised Alumni Meet on Saturday, 24 December 2022. It was a moment of great pride for the school and the teachers to meet the ex-students who are successful in their respective fields . During the meet, the alumni community shared their experiences in the outside world which they faced after stepping out of the institution.

It was a great platform to identify and reconnect with distinguished alumni who are well placed at top positions in India and abroad. They expressed their gratitude to the school for organising such a heart warming programme for them.

‘BHARATIYA BHASHA UTSAV' PROGRAMME

Classes: VI-IX

Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav programme is an innovative CBSE initiative to celebrate rich linguistic heritage of India. In keeping with the theme of this programme, a special activity ‘My Language My Signature’ was organised for the Classes 6-9 in the month of December 2023.

The students of Classes VI-IX enthusiastically participated in the Activity – My Language My Signature

Each student of classes 6 -9 wrote his or her   name first in English language and then signed in their mother tongue or any other Indian language other than Hindi. The students also mentioned the name of the language in which they signed on the A3 size sheet.

The heading ‘Meri bhasha, Mere Hashtaskhar was written beautifully in Hindi font by the students and the collage was displayed on the notice board of the classroom.

The purpose of the activity was to strengthen language harmony, celebrate the rich variety and wonders of ‘Bharitya Bhashas’ and to develop an attitude and aptitude to love and appreciate the Indian languages.

All the students of the school enthusiastically participated in the activity.

The hard work and creativity of the participants in the ‘Bharitya Bhasha Utsav’ was appreciated by all the teachers.

DPS Dwarka organized an Accountancy workshop for class XII (Commerce) on Wednesday, 14 December 2022 in the school auditorium. The resource person, Dr. Vikas Vijay is a very learned educationist who has authored ‘Together with’. He did a hawk eye analysis of the latest CBSE Accountancy sample paper, discussed how to make the best choice among 12 choices available in the paper and strategy to complete the paper on time.

A CUET workshop for classes XII (Commerce) and XI (all sections) was also conducted by Mr. Nakul Shairwal where the pattern of the exam and the various options available to the students after class XII was discussed.

Both the workshops were very informative and enriching.

DPS Dwarka initiated ‘Nurturing the Roots’ programme on Thursday, 1st December 2022. Under this programme, a series of lectures and interactive sessions by school alumni will be organised for the students of DPS Dwarka. The first interactive session was taken by Abhay Maheshwari, a leading Writer-Story teller- Podcaster who is currently working as Strategy & Ops Lead – Retail & Consumer Products Vertical at ZS Associates.  

A student of DPS Dwarka, 2010 batch, Abhay Maheshwari was invited to interact with the students of Class XI. He took a session on ‘Managing Anxiety and Stress: Channelling Efforts towards Life Goals’. In his session he spoke about creating support eco systems, celebrating small wins, using time wisely and acknowledging limitations in order to manage anxiety and stress. He also talked about the importance of learning environment in school and the positive role of teachers in the lives of students. 

The interaction concluded with a Q & A session wherein the students asked questions about their day-to-day problems which were very promptly answered by  Abhay Maheshwari. The session inspired the students to effectively plan their goals to achieve success in their lives.  

WORKSHOP ON CAREER OPTIONS FOR STUDENTS OF IX & X

A career counseling workshop was conducted by Mr. Jitin Chawla for the parents of students of Classes IX & X on 19 November 2022. The resource person, Mr. Chawla is a renowned Career Counsellor with 21 years of experience.

Mr. Chawla began the session with some fascinating new age questions depicting the differences in the interests of the students and the parents. He went on to explain the relevance of steering one’s life in the right direction by choosing the correct career option. He gave real life examples to illustrate the importance of career exploration and why it must begin early in life.  He spoke at length about exploring unconventional careers and their pay offs as opposed to traditional career options.

He enlightened parents about multiple career opportunities in various streams and their scope in India and abroad. He also informed parents about various opportunities to explore for their wards like summer camps, winter camps and importance of credit bearing camps, leadership programmes, free courses to gauge experiences and knowledge about different sectors.

He informed the parents about the process of applying to renowned foreign universities like Harvard, UCLA, UC Berkeley etc and how to build a strong profile. Parents were given details of various internships that would help in strengthening students’ CV, information about how students can practice making their CVs was also provided. Parents were also made aware of the need of individual aptitude testing of the students.

At the end of the workshop, he also answered the queries of the parents. The workshop turned out to be an interactive and fruitful session for the parents.

MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA AT DPS DWARKA

DPS Dwarka organised Inter-DPS Western Vocal Music Festival 2022 under the aegis of The DPS Society on Wednesday, 16 November 2022. The event was graced by Mr. V. K. Shunglu, Chairman, DPS Society as the Chief Guest. Dr. Kiran Datar, Chairperson, DPS Dwarka was the Guest of Honour and Mrs. Madhu Shunglu was the distinguished guest. Ms. Dolly Chanana, Joint Director, DPS Society and  Mr. Tanveer Chadha, Architect working with DPS Society also graced the occasion.

The inaugural ceremony witnessed mesmerising performance by the school band. The school choir presented a musical concert showcasing different genres - Gospel, Hymnal, Inspirational & a cappella. Highlight of the day was a power packed Piano performance by Ammie Arora. She is the pride of DPS Dwarka. She has been listed in the World book of records for being the youngest retro female pianist. She holds the record of playing 51 retro songs continuously in 3 hours 18 minutes and 32 seconds.

Mr. Shunglu, Chairman, The DPS Society congratulated Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal DPS Dwarka and her team for putting up a stupendous show. Dr. Kiran Datar, Chairperson DPS Dwarka reiterated that such events are in sync with the Happiness curriculum which ensures that learning is a joyous experience for the students.

Around 175 students from 21 Delhi Public Schools from Delhi & NCR participated in this mega event. There were two competitions- Solo song and group song which were adjudged by a renowned panel of judges.

In the Valedictory ceremony, Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka felicitated the winners and congratulated them for their zealous performance in this musical pilgrimage.

In Solo Song Competition DPS Vasant Kunj won the Rolling Trophy followed by DPS R. K. Puram & DPS Noida, Sector-30 at the second and third position respectively.

In the Group Song Competition DPS Noida, Sector-30 lifted the Rolling Trophy followed by DPS Vasant Kunj & DPS R. K. Puram at the second and third position respectively.

TRIP TO SULABH INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF TOILETS

CLASS VI
Wednesday, 2nd November 2022 and Thursday, 3rd November 2022

To educate our students about historical trends in the development of toilets, an education trip to Sulabh International Museum was organised for class VI. Founded by Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, the museum has a rare collection of facts, pictures and objects detailing the historic evolution of toilets from 2500 BC to date. The pictures displayed at the museum make one aware of how the world looked like when societies did not have the benefit of water closets and the changes that have been brought about by its invention.
Students also learnt about the production of bio gas and visited a kitchen which was wholly run by the biogas produced in Museum.

Students also got a chance to interact with Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak. Dr. Pathak answered students’ questions related to Biogas and water treatment plant.

The educational trip was indeed fruitful with students being exposed to many historical facts and events related to development of toilets.

UNITY DAY ACTIVITIES

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel and concurrently the Rashtriya Ekta Divas, our school organised the following activities-

To mark this occasion and to create awareness about the contribution of our first Deputy Prime Minister, teachers spoke about his role on national integration and motivated students to keep national interests over everything else.

Students poured out their creativity in creating slogans and bookmarks highlighting unity and integration – values for which India is well known. Activities help to generate leadership qualities like Sardar Patel’s among our young learners.

RUSSIAN DELEGATES – WELCOME ASSEMBLY

DPS Dwarka organised a welcome assembly for the Russian delegates on Thursday, 29 September 2022.  Mr. Oleg Osipov, Director and Counsellor RCSC, Embassy of the Russian Federation of India, was the esteemed guest for the occasion.

The cultural programme included an orphic symphony played by the School Band followed by Vande Mataram, a melodious rendition awakening the patriotic fervour. The school choir presented a Russian song celebrating the bond of friendship. The highlights of the programme were a Sarod and Tabla Jugalbandi and a fusion dance (Odissi & Kalinka) representing the culture and spirit of India. The dignitaries were welcomed by Ms. Priya Narayanan, Vice Principal, DPS Dwarka. The programme concluded with a presentation made by the Russian delegates to apprise the students about various academic courses available in Russia for higher studies.

EXAMS AND STUDY SKILLS

Name of the Resource Person:Dr.Keshav Sharma, Program lead, Psycho-Oncology Services at the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences at Fortis Healthcare.

A workshop was conducted (on Exams and Study Skills) by Dr.Keshav Sharma for students of Class 10th DPS Dwarka. The Resource Person, Dr. Sharma is a Program leader of Psycho Oncology Services at the Department of Mental and Behavioural Sciences at Fortis Healthcare. She has got Special training in Tobacco Cessation, Grief Bereavement and Palliative Care. She is also a certified Professional and Clinical Supervisor from Australian Counselling Association.  Dr. Sharma is working extensively in the field of Preventive Oncology, Community Mental Health and School Mental Health.

She interacted with the students about the study skills, importance and learning from examinations, how to do effective planning through methods like time management and techniques for prioritizing tasks, activity scheduling, goal setting, procrastination and its effects, and also the need for creating study environment. She enlightened the students with various tips for better reading, revision, self-testing and self-evaluation.

The session was concluded with a discussion on the importance of planning sleep timings to lower anxiety levels of students.

The workshop was very informative, insightful and educative.

The Japan Embassy organised a Painting Competition and Exhibition for students of classes 6 to 11 on Wednesday, 21 September 2022 on the ocassion of 70th Anniversay of Japan- India diplomatic relations " Visit, Paint and Win".

The exhibiton was held at art gallery, Kamla Devi Complex, India International Centre, Delhi.

26 students participated in the above mentioned competition and viewed the exhibition "Japan from India's perspective" .

FELICITATION CEREMONY

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised felicitation ceremony for the session 2022- 2023 on Tuesday, 27th September 2022. A total of 128 young leaders were formally invested with various duties they will shoulder all through the year. The Chief Guest gracing the occasion was Dr. Kiran Datar, Chairperson, DPS Dwarka.

It was also a moment of great pride and honour for 52 champion scholars as they received gold medals for their academic brilliance over a span of seven consecutive years.

The ceremony began on an auspicious note with the lighting of the lamp. The programme was a cultural potpourri starting with a mellifluous symphony presented by the School Band followed by a soulful rendition by the school choir. A thought provoking talk show on ‘Self belief and Determination’ left the audience mesmerised.

Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Prinicpal, DPS Dwarka congratulated all the scholars and school appointees lauding their persistence and hard work, with the hope that they may continue to tread the path of success and keep winning laurels.

Dr. Kiran Datar, in her address emphasised that kindness and compassion are the two qualities that matter the most in life. She urged the young leaders to build a world full of peace, love and compassion that we all can be proud of. The Chief Guest conferred the badges and sashes and administered the oath to the newly constituted student council. They took the pledge to hold the school motto in high esteem.

The Head Girls, Ruhani Bakhru and Gaurika Agarwal and the Head Boys Arnav Gupta and Ayaan Choudhury proposed the Vote of Thanks on behalf of the entire student council. They expressed their gratitude to the school for deeming them worthy of responsibility and encouraging them to believe in themselves.

The ceremony was witnessed by the proud parents of the young office bearers and gold medal recipients.

TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

Teacher’s day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the students of classes VI – X on Friday, 2nd September 2022 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Students made colourful cards, book marks, presented talk shows, recited poems as a tribute to the contributions made by teachers to Society. Power point presentations and group discussions on the life, achievements and contributions of Dr. Radhakrishnan were the highlights of the day.
All the students enjoyed the celebrations.

‘Freedom is the open window through which pours the sunlight of the human spirit and human dignity.’

On 15 August 2022 India commemorates 75 glorious years of independence. The commemoration, also hailed as ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, celebrates not only 75 years of India’s independence, but also the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.

The students and faculty of Delhi Public School, Dwarka presented a special  assembly to commemorate the 75th Independence Day of India. All students of classes VI to XII participated zestfully in the assembly. Every heart rejoiced with pride for being an Indian, all hearts sang out proudly ‘Vande Mataram.’

At the outset of the assembly the Tricolour, a symbol of India’s unity and strength,  was hoisted by the Principal of the school, Ms. Sunita Tanwar. This was followed by  the National Anthem sung by the school choir. A prayer in Hindi by Principal Ma’am  invoked the blessings of the divine for the nation and for the school. Patriotic poems,celebrating the glory of India, infused a sense of pride for the nation  in the audience. A Talk Show extolling the role of women in India’s freedom struggle  made one proud of the illustrious past of our nation. The assembly concluded with  due homage to a nation with a glorious past and a lustrous future. 

The assembly was seamlessly planned and effectively presented.

DPS Dwarka organized Scholar Badge Ceremony to felicitate the scholars of classes VIII, IX & X for their outstanding academic performance during the session 2021-22 on 29 July 2022. The event was graced by Mr. M. Harsha Vardhan, DCP Dwarka as the Chief Guest.

The programme began with lighting of the lamp followed by a musical rendition by the school choir. The school band left the audience spell bound by their electrifying performance. The Talk Show on the theme ‘Hard work & Persistence Pays off’ motivated the young scholars to stay positive and dedicated to reach the pinnacle of success.

The chief guest, Mr. M. Harsha Vardhan in his address, appreciated the school band and the school choir for a stupendous performance. He advised the students to explore all possibilities, discover their inherent talent, hone their skills and put in all their efforts to excel in the field of their interest. He presented certificates and badges to the students for their academic excellence and emphasized that passion & persistence is the key to success.  

Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka congratulated all the scholar badge holders who have worked hard to successfully accomplish their goals. She reiterated that
self-discipline will empower the students and help them stay focussed.

A workshop on "stream selection and career guidance" was conducted by Mr. Ritesh Jain from Pratham.

It was a very informative workshop where students came to know about various offbeat courses which will be of immense value in the near future. They were also informed as to how to choose a stream or course in class XI.

The speaker also laid stress on the relevance of class XII marks.

It was overall a very intresting session.

A seminar was conducted by Fortis Healthcare for Class XI students on the topic LIFE THROUGH AN OPTIMISTIC LENS.  The expert Ms. Akansha Khanna, a counseling psychologist with Department of Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences, Fortis Healthcare interacted with the students and encouraged them to reflect upon the various challenges that we face in our lives and our responses to them.
She discussed how the following vectors affect a student’s life:-

• Friendships and relationships,
• Peers and School Environment,
• Family and Home Environment,
• Academic and Extra-Curricular activities,
• Media.

The expert focused on how to see life through an optimistic lens despite the various challenges. She discussed with students how our ordinary perceptions can be re-adjusted helping us in developing a positive attitude. She shared that the first step towards being positive is recognizing our negative thoughts and then converting them into optimistic or positive statements. The students were asked to share examples of some of their negative thoughts and asked to convert them into positive statements.
The expert also discussed the various ways through which students can continue to stay positive/optimistic such as:

• Investing in Relationships
• Building on your support system
• Spending time with Family
• Staying connected with friends

The expert encouraged students to practice Gratitude which helps in keeping a track of positives in life and also makes us optimistic towards future. The seminar was organized to encourage students develop a healthy outlook towards life despite the difficulties they face by maintaining an optimistic attitude.

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organized a webinar on ‘Stream Selection and Study Abroad’ for the students and parents of class XI on 29 June 2022. The resource person was Mr. Arun Bhatia, Regional Manager, Jamboree, Delhi NCR.

The webinar started with Mr. Arun guiding the students on how to select any particular field of study. He told the students about the difference between aptitude i.e. what we are good at and interest i.e. what we love. He emphasized that stream selection should be done on the basis of a combination of the two. He further explained the futuristic need for skill development and a positive attitude. He emphasized that gone are the days when only knowledge was everything. In today’s competitive world, knowledge has to be accompanied with various other skills. It was also explained that how new problems in the world have created  new avenues like environmental engineering, public policy, renewable energy engineering etc. He also talked about the various demanding job opportunities in every stream.  Different courses in different colleges both private and public in India and Abroad were highlighted upon. He also focussed on Profile building as it is a crucial part of securing admission in foreign universities. It was an interactive an informative session.

Students were explained about the importance of Self Esteem and various ways to enhance it. An activity was conducted to create a Feel Good paper about themselves where children were asked to pen down answers to questions related to what they like about themselves. Students were explained how they must figure out their strengths and weaknesses. Using an example of sports, emphasis was laid on why losing is equally important and one must enjoy the sport more than the result. At the end, children participated in a quiz to sum up the learning. Activities performed during the workshop were thoroughly enjoyed by the students. The workshop was educative and interesting.

Classes VI – XII

“The heritage of the past is the seed that brings forth the harvest of the future.” – Wendell Phillips

With these words resounding in our hearts and minds, the History department today organized a plethora of activities to commemorate the World Heritage Day. Our objective was to edify the students about this day and the need to preserve our heritage.

The following activities were undertaken –

1. Postage Stamp making – Students of class VI tried their hands at replicating postage stamps that publicized India’s cultural heritage. The enthusiasm, fervor and earnestness among the students was praiseworthy.
2. Origami: Lotus Temple – Students of class VII were encouraged to study and replicate the symmetry of the famous Baha’i temple in Delhi, more popularly known as the Lotus temple. Some students stretched their creativity to make astounding reproductions that awed one and all.
3. Pictographic signage designing – As the level of awareness on preservation of monuments is low in India, students of class VIII were asked to funnel their energies into creating some unique pictographic signages. They came up with some noteworthy representations.
4. Logo designing and Slogan writing – Students of class IX were encouraged to become designers and spring up some innovative logos for the Archaeological Survey of India. The creative creatures amazed everyone with sensational designs and slogans.
5. Heritage Quiz – In a bid to increase the awareness of our heritage sites, students of class X were given a quiz on the same. It was preceded by an orientation by the history teachers with the endeavor to increase their knowledge about the subject.
6. Heritage Walk – To commemorate World Heritage Day a visit was organized for class XII students of History to Dwarka Baoli at Sector-12, Dwarka. The aim of this activity was to sensitize the students about the need to preserve such monuments which are a part of our rich culture and heritage and to inculcate in them a sense of pride for our National Heritage.

All the activities were executed well and achieved our objective. It was an effort in the right direction.

IDIOM CHARADES

An Inter – section literary activity ‘Idiom Charades’ was conducted on Monday, 04 April, 2022 for the students of class VII. The activity was held in the auditorium, wherein a volunteer from each section dramatized the given Idiom. Each section was awarded points for guessing the correct idiom and its meaning.

The activity was successful in enhancing the language skills of the students and they were motivated to use the idioms in their Speaking and Writing skills.

Overall, it was an insightful and interactive activity wherein all the participants were in the spirit of the event.   

INVESTITURE CEREMONY (SENIOR WING) 2021-22

DPS Dwarka organized Investiture Ceremony for the session 2021-22 on 18 February, 2022. A total of 113 young leaders were invested with various responsibilities. The event began with lamp lighting followed by a video presentation showcasing reverie of music and celestial beats by the school orchestra and school choir.
        
The members of the Student Council were officially appointed as leaders as they were administered the oath by Ms. Priya Narayanan, Vice Principal, DPS Dwarka. They pledged to fulfill their responsibilities with honesty and commitment.

The Head Boys, Aviral Vishwakarma & Hitarth Khurana and the Head Girls, Chhavi Malhotra & Ananya Arora, on behalf of the entire Student Council, thanked the Principal and the teachers for bestowing upon them the great responsibility of leadership and the onus of taking the school to greater heights. They emphasized that the Covid 19 pandemic has taught them to accept all challenges and confront all fears with courage. It has made them learn integrity, insight and inclusiveness, the three essential qualities of leadership. They assured to uphold the great legacy of the school and pledged to keep the DPS banner aloft.

On this occasion, 71 students of class XII who have been scholars for seven consecutive years were presented with Gold Medals as a reward of their persistence and hardwork.

Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka conveyed her best wishes and blessings to all the members of the Student Council and the Gold Medal recipients.

 In addition to the specific topics covered in their respective presentations, academic counsellors and university representatives gave comprehensive information about their campuses, admission procedures, scholarships and financial aids, educational loans, fee structures, faculty members, state of the art facilities in their respective universities as well as industry placements. Most of them gave a virtual tour of their respective university and spoke in detail about the multidisciplinary programmes offered by them.   The session was interactive all throughout and addressed various student-parent concerns pertaining to college admissions on a one-on-one basis.

The three and a half-hour virtual career fair concluded with a question-answer session. The university representatives took up several parental queries such as cut-off scores needed and other requirements for the selection process, best university to pursue a particular academic course, criteria for scholarships, ease of living in a particular country and so on.

The school organized an interactive webinar on ‘Cyber Security’ for all students of class IX and X. The one-hour long session was conducted by Ms. Himani Khanna, an accomplished psychologist and a leadership trainer.

Ms. Himani began the webinar at a positive note. She explained that while online learning provides many opportunities for learners and teachers alike, it is more important than ever to strengthen cyber security defenses to deal with new and emerging attacks. This virtual session was designed to help provide students with the information they needed to identify common cyber threats, as well as tips on best practices in cyber security. 

She explained that cyber activity affects students in a variety of ways typically in the form of malware and scams. She gave broad overview of the cyberattacks commonly encountered such as data theft, mobile malware, malicious social media messaging etc.

She gave the following cyber security tips for students.

• Avoid sharing personal information.
• Invest in virus protection.
• Update the software regularly
• Avoid visiting unknown sites or downloading software from untrusted sources.

RESULTS

47TH AMALA CHATTERJEE MEMORIAL INTER-SCHOOL ENGLISH DEBATE

The 47th Amala Chatterjee Memorial Inter-School English Debate was organized by D.P.S. Mathura Road on 06 August ‘21. The debate was held virtually on the Google Meet platform. Students of Grade VIII were invited to participate in the event. The topic for debate was ‘Parents must control their children’s activities on social media.’  The aim of the competition was not just to offer a platform to students to exhibit their public speaking skills, but also encourage them to see both sides of an issue and express their viewpoints with clarity and composure.

From D.P.S. Dwarka a team of three students from grade VIII - Aditi Prakash (For the motion), Lakshmi D. Barnwal (Against the motion) and Pratishtha Sharma as the Interjector participated in the same. They were accompanied by a teacher.
The event started at 11.00 am sharp and acquainted the participants and attendees with the origin and importance of the debate. A warm welcome was extended to the judges Dr. Paromita Bose and Ms. Chanchal Lal. This was followed by a reading out of the rules and regulations governing the competition. The various participating teams had already been given their numbers via mail, there were 17 participating teams in all.

The debate started forthwith. All debaters were erudite, well prepared, earnest and in the spirit of the event. The students standing for the motion presented their viewpoints proficiently, and those countering the motion presented themselves with fresh reason, logic and evidence. The interjectors were alert and ready with some brilliant questions.

Arshia Tanvi of Sanskriti School bagged the First Prize-Best Speaker, the Second Prize-Best Speaker was shared by Poorav Singh Ghia of D.P.S. International and Aashna Mittal of D.P.S. Mathura Road. The third prize- Best Speaker went to Achitya Jha of St. Columbus School. The Motivational Prize was taken by Aarav Bansal of St. Columbus School. The Best Interjector prize was taken by Ayshna Tripathi of Modern School, Barakhamba.  The Best Team Award was conferred on St. Columbus.   

CLUB ACTIVITIES

The second session of Science & Innovation Club of the academic year 2021-22 was held on 30th July 2021. This session included an activity of making a thermometer.

Students were asked to assemble some materials to make the thermometer.

The activity was demonstrated by the teacher. The students participated in the activity enthusiastically and shared their experiences.

The activity didn’t only give an equal footage to every child but also boosted their confidence and spirit of independence.

The second meeting of Quiz club of the session 2021-22 was held on 30/07/2021. The topic of the quiz was Science. Questions from all the themes of science like physics , chemistry, biology were taken.
The quiz was conducted using forms on Teams app.

All the Participants from Classes VI – IX actively participated.

A link for the Science quiz was shared with the students. The students enthusiastically participated and quickly attempted all the questions. After the quiz forms submission by all the participants , teacher in charge discussed answers of all the questions. Students found this quiz very informative and knowledge enriching.

CLASS VI
All students did this activity with lot of enthusiasm. They were very excited for this online activity.  First they prepared card boards wrapped with news paper. Then they drew  beautiful branches with blooming flowers with brush & earbuds .Some used single colour ,while some of them made multicoloured  painting. It  seems they enjoyed the activity thoroughly.
Ananya ,Sejal,Pakhi,Kunal ,Arun Mishra,Avnie,Ryaana did excellent work.

Class VII
All students of club took initiative for the activity, they were very enthusiastic The purpose of the exercise was to make the students understand the concept of Recycling. Ilesh ,Armaan, Aqsa,Ashwik Ranya made beautiful flowers , trees ,birds & butterflies They all made beautiful Landscapes and their work is praiseworthy.

CLASS VIII
Children participated in the creative club activity with a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity. First they learnt the preparation of newspaper mounted boards.They prepared TRIPTYCHS i.e  THREE  VERTICAL PANELS Few of the children made Landscapes .geometrical designs etc , They really enjoyed making these beautiful creative materials with their own hands. Urshita  of 8A & Nysa of 8D Cdid excellent work.

CLASS IX 
Students  first learnt the  to prepare newapaper mounted bases which acted like canvas for them Then they drew different kind of artworks on those  boards .

Overall , it was an activity  to teach  the students benefits of recycling ., and how you can become friends of EARTH .,Supplies were easy to procure & the craft  gave students lots of  scope of artistic innovation .

The students of the Maths club were introduced with the concept of Magic Squares. They were briefed about the origin of Magic Squares in India. Students were explained how to solve 3×3 Magic Squares. Some 3×3 Magic Squares were given to the students and they solved them enthusiastically. The children took keen interest in doing the activity.

The steps were shown to the students to make the protractor by paper folding. Students followed the steps and were able to make the protractor in the class. Students participated with full enthusiasm.

The students were given Sudoku puzzles to solve where a 9 by 9 grid had to be filled with digits from 1 to 9 without repetition, row-wise and column-wise. It was further divided into 3 by 3 sub- grids. Every puzzle had a unique solution.

The children had lot of fun in guessing as well as logically arriving at the answers. They enthusiastically participated in the activity and wanted more of such puzzles in the future. This not only broke the everyday monotony but also challenged their grey cells.

The objective of this activity was to make the students understand the practical application of trigonometry through the instrument called Clinometer. Students were asked to be ready with the materials required for making the Clinometer and with the given instructions they were able to complete the activity. Students were explained what is Clinometer, what is the use of this instrument and how to use it. Basic knowledge of trigonometry was required for making use of Clinometer and that was explained to the students. The children were encouraged to make use of Clinometer in finding out heights and distances

DPS Dwarka organized the Investiture Ceremony on virtual platform for the session 2020-21 on Tuesday, 10 November 2020. A total of 103 young leaders were invested with various responsibilities. The occasion was graced by Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka. The event began with the invocation and virtual lamp lighting followed by a reverie of music and celestial beats by the school orchestra and school choir which mesmerized the audience.

Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka in her welcome address congratulated all the school appointees and asked the students to focus on the positives. She stated that all the appointees must work with utmost sincerity and dedication to keep the DPS banner flying high. She also said that DPS Dwarka is committed to fight against the Corona virus pandemic and our collective efforts can help combat this massive threat. She further mentioned that this Extraordinary circumstance has never been a barrier in the quest for learning at DPS Dwarka.

AMALA CHATTERJEE MEMORIAL INTER SCHOOL ENGLISH DEBATE

The Amala Chatterjee Memorial Inter School English Debate was organized by DPS Mathura Road on 23 November 2020. The debate was held virtually on the Google Meet platform. Students of Grade VIII were invited to participate in the event. The topic for debate was ‘Digital Technology is making children’s lives better.’  The debate aimed at honing the oratory skills of the students and cultivating their abilities to think critically and creatively.
From DPS Dwarka a team of three students from grade VIII Mishaa Kalra, Tanushree Kumar and Shaurya Bansal participated in the same. They were accompanied by a teacher.

The event started at 11.00 am sharp and acquainted the participants and attendees with the origin and importance of the debate. A warm welcome was extended to the judges Ms. Apoorva Kaur and Ms. Divya Sharma. This was followed by a reading out of the rules and regulations governing the competition. The various participating teams had already been given their numbers through mail, there were 16 participating teams in all.

The debate started forthwith. All debaters were well informed, well prepared, enthusiastic and in the spirit of the event. The students standing for the motion put across their points effectively, and the students who were against the motion countered them with fresh reason, logic and evidence. The interjectors were quick to detect even the slightest niche in logic and questioned the speakers intelligently. It was a close fought and interesting battle of words and brain.

Vaanya Nanda of Modern School, Vasant Vihar bagged the First Prize-Best Speaker, the Second Prize-Best Speaker went to Anayesa Arora of Modern School, Vasant Vihar, the third prize- Best Speaker went to Aditya Yashovardhan Pandey of DPS Noida and Aureya Saraf of DPS Mathura Road. The Best Interjector prize was taken by Jahanavi S. of DPS Mathura Road. There were two Motivation Awards to encourage and motivate students to greater self-expression. These were bagged by Nysa Punhani of DPS R.K. Puram and Radhika Mehra of DPS Sushant Lok. The rolling trophy went to Modern School Vasant Vihar.            

ECONOMICS WEBINAR

A webinar was organized for Economics students of Classes XI and XII. The topic was ‘Impact of Covid 19 on the Economy’. The resource person was Mr. Abhimanyu Rajpurohit. He is an alumni of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala. He has been mentoring undergraduate students for the past 10 years.

The webinar covered various dimensions of the impact. International effect about negative oil Prices in the US was discussed. Thereafter, Impact on the entertainment industry, Import-Exports, Travel & Tourism, Pharmaceutical, Aviation and Hospitality industry was covered. The resource person also brought in the impact of Covid pandemic on employment and migration on the Indian economy.

It was an interactive session with students participating as well. At the end, students’ questions were taken up.

It was an educative experience for all students.

Annual Stage Production

Delhi Public School, Dwarka showcased its stage production नमो नमः भारताय in the school auditorium on 18 & 19 December 2019. The occasion was graced by the benign presence of Padam Bhushan Shri V.K. Shunglu, Chairman, DPS Society as the Chief Guest and Ms. Madhu Shunglu as the Distinguished Guest on 18 December 2019. Mr. Sushil Kumar, Deputy Director of Education, South West B-2 was the Distinguished Guest on 19 December 2019.

The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries. Extending a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka highlighted that the presentation was a tribute to our Mother Land.

Mr. V.K. Shunglu, Chairman, DPS Society in his speech reiterated that such events are a reminder that we should not forget our culture and pass on the rich legacy to our young generation. He was extremely happy that our mother tongue Hindi was given equal importance in an English Medium School. He congratulated Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka and her entire team for taking the school to greater heights.

Mr. Sushil Kumar, Deputy Director of Education, South West B-2 applauded the efforts of the school for putting up a beautiful ensemble showcasing the history of India. He further added that he was mesmerized by the remarkable performance of the students and had no words to complement the performers as each child had put his heart and soul into the event.

The play highlighted the magnificent history of India – A Mystical Land that is almost 500 years old with rich culture and traditions. The journey from the days of Indus Valley Civilization to the battle of 1857 and finally the globalized India was beautifully showcased through the dance drama. The aim was to pay tribute to the sacrifices of our great heroes and create an awakening in the young generation towards our glorious culture heritage.

DPS Dwarka under the aegis of the DPS Society organized Nihon No Kaori 2019 – Annual Inter DPS Japanese Language Festival on Friday, 23 August 2019. Students from twelve Delhi Public Schools participated in various offsite and onsite events.

The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Ms. Namita Pradhan, Chairperson, DPS Dwarka as the Chief Guest. Dr. Zeenat Khader, Joint Secretary, DPS Society was the Guest of Honour. The event was also graced by Mr. Masahiro Kobayashi, First Secretary, Embassy of Japan as the Distinguished Guest.

Ms. Namita Pradhan, Chairperson, DPS Dwarka emphasized that there is much more that we can learn from Japan apart from their rich culture and amazing technological expertise. The way people of Japan have overcome the ravages of time exhibits their immense discipline, dedication and determination.

Mr. Masahiro Kobayashi, First Secretary, Embassy of Japan in his address complimented the school for organizing such a festival. He acclaimed the zeal and enthusiasm exhibited by the participants from various schools.

Dr. Zeenat Khader, Joint Secretary, DPS Society congratulated the participants and applauded the efforts of the DPS Dwarka team for organizing such an event. She emphasized that the aim of organizing such festivals is to bring the two countries together and further strengthen the bond of friendship.

Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal DPS Dwarka emphasized that since Japan is the economic powerhouse of Asia, learning their language is an important skill. It will open doors to employment for students in the near future.

A beautiful cultural programme put up by the students of DPS Dwarka enthralled the audience. The delegates from the Japan Embassy highly appreciated the Japanese Dance and the Japanese Welcome Song presented by the students.
The festival provided the students a platform to exhibit their inherent talent and understanding of the Japanese Language. Various competitions like Japanese Dance, Japanese Song, Picking Beans with Chopsticks, Just A Minute, Making Japanese Dolls and Creating a Mascot were organized to test the language skills of the students.

Mr. Kousuke Noguchi, Director, Japanese Language & Studies at Japan Foundation, Mr. D. Shekar, Senior Programme Officer, JICA and Ms. Uehara Yuga, Japanese Language Advisor at JNU from JICA were the eminent judges for the events. Ms. Anshula Bhatt, Programme Officer, Embassy of Japan also attended the event.

The team from DPS Noida was adjudged the Overall Winners of Nihon No Kaori 2019. DPS Greater Noida and DPS Bulandshahr were the First and Second Runners up respectively.

DPS Dwarka organized the Investiture Ceremony for the session 2019-20 on 24 July 2019. A total of 100 young leaders were invested with various responsibilities. The occasion was graced by Mr. Anto Alphonse, DCP Dwarka as the Chief Guest. A reverie of music and celestial beats by the school orchestra and school choir mesmerized the audience. It was followed by a talk show on motivation and nuggets of success.

Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka in her welcome address congratulated all the school appointees and stated that leadership is practiced not so much in words, as in attitude and in actions. Therefore, it is essential for us to realize that every action is a reflection of our character, our integrity and our ability.

Mr. Anto Alphonse, DCP Dwarka, appreciated the cultural programme put up by the students. He stated that the school music troupe was class apart. He was highly impressed by the discipline and decorum exhibited by the students of the school. According to him, the mantra of success is to pursue one’s passion with utmost zeal and enthusiasm.  Every child is a leader, it is only for us to tap their latent potential. He decorated the newly appointed members of the Student Council with badges and sashes and administered the oath.

The Head Boys, Yash Mehan & Shaurya Palit and the Head Girls, Upasana Tiwari & Ishita Vashisth, on behalf of the entire Student Council, emphasized that  the onus of leadership bestowed upon them is immense and they hope to not only emulate the bar set by their predecessors but to raise it up a notch. They assured to uphold the great legacy of the school and pledged to keep the DPS banner aloft.

The ceremony was witnessed by the proud parents of the young office bearers.

SCHOLAR BADGE CEREMONY (CLASS XI)

DPS Dwarka felicitated the young scholars of class XI on the occasion of the Scholar Badge ceremony held on 26 July 2019. Mr. A.K. Hazarika, Member Managing Committee, DPS Dwarka graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp followed by a cultural programme. Melodious rendition ‘You Raise Me Up’ by the school choir and an orphic performance by the school band left the audience spellbound.

Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka, in her address, applauded the hard work and dedication of the students. She reiterated that self-discipline is the key to success.  Possession of this skill leads to self confidence and will help us accomplish our goals.

Mr. A.K. Hazarika, in his address, congratulated the students for exhibiting excellent performance in the CBSE Class X Board Examinations.  He emphasized that apart from academics, co-curricular activities play an important role  in the holistic development of students. He further added that students must be given the liberty to choose the stream of their choice and pursue their passion.

Mr. Hazarika felicitated the meritorious students of class XI with Blue Tie and Blue Blazers in recognition of six consecutive years of academic excellence.  Scholar badges were also awarded to the students for their outstanding academic performance in the CBSE Class X Board Examinations 2018-19. Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka, in her address, applauded the hard work and dedication of the students. She reiterated that our aim is to create dynamic, versatile and confident individuals who stand out in the crowd.

Ms. Namita Pradhan felicitated 63 meritorious students of class XII with Gold Medals along with trophies and certificates in appreciation of seven consecutive years of academic excellence. 50 students were presented with Certificate of Excellence for their outstanding performance in research, innovation, sports and cultural activities. Two students of class XII were felicitated for receiving the prestigious KVPY Scholarship. 12 students of class X who have successfully qualified the JSTS Examination were also acknowledged. 116 students of classes X & XII were awarded scholar badge for their academic excellence during the session 2018-19. The ceremony was witnessed by the proud parents of the young scholars.

A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS

DPS Dwarka organized A Thousand Splendid Suns - Annual Inter DPS English Literary Festival 2018 on 15 December 2018 under the aegis of The DPS Society. The  event  saw  an  overwhelming  participation  of around 1300 students from 101  Delhi Public Schools across the country.

The   Inaugural   Ceremony   was graced  by  Ms. Namita Pradhan, Chairperson, DPS Dwarka as the Chief Guest and Dr. Zeenat Khader, Joint Secretary, DPS Society as the Distinguished Guest. The programme began with an orphic performance by the school orchestra followed by a graceful and elegant ballroom dance.  The school choir mesmerized the audience with a welcome sonnet.

Ms. Namita Pradhan, Chairperson, DPS Dwarka appreciated the  efforts  of the school in promoting English literature because literature opens up new vistas of learning and transports us to a beautiful world of imagination.

Dr. Zeenat Khader, Joint Secretary, DPS Society and the National Convenor of the literary festival, congratulated Ms. Tanwar and her team for organizing this mega event. She further added that the aim of organizing such events is to provide DPS students across the country a platform to interact, compete and learn from each other. 

Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka, in her address said that books are carriers of civilization. Without books, history is silent, Literature dumb and Science crippled.  She emphasized the importance of exposing children to good literary works and inculcating in them the habit of reading.

English Literary Festival 2018 was a compendium of innovative and creative events like Amateur Authors, Proverbial Gestures, Literary Geek, Enacto Dissendium to name a few. The events were judged by eminent panel of judges comprising Professors, Lecturers from Delhi University and ELT Consultants from OUP & Scholastic India.

DPS Bangalore (North) was adjudged the Overall Winners followed by DPS Indirapuram and DPS Noida as First & Second Runners Up respectively.

This literary pilgrimage was a great learning experience for all the participants.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Annual Stage Presentation

DPS Dwarka staged The Sound of Music – a timeless classic on 30 November 2018. The occasion was graced by Mr. V. K. Shunglu, Hon’ble Chairman, DPS Society as the Chief Guest and Ms. Namita Pradhan, Chairperson, DPS Dwarka as the Guest of Honour.

Mrs. Sunita Tanwar, Principal DPS Dwarka in her welcome address emphasized that the play highlights that love and kindness can conquer grief and fear. The protagonist, Maria inspires us to be optimistic and makes us believe that we can accomplish anything if we have faith in ourselves. In some way, we all can relate to the dynamics of the Von Trapp family.

Mr. V.K. Shunglu, Chairman DPS Society appreciated the electrifying performance by the school orchestra and the extraordinary theatrical skills exhibited by the students in the play.  He emphasized that both children as well as adults can learn varied lessons from the play.

Set amidst the breathtaking, picturesque landscape of Salzburg, Austria – The Sound of Music showcased how Maria brings music and happiness to the Von Trapp family. Her warmth and compassion gradually melts the Captain’s icy demeanour and detached stern attitude towards his children. Interspersed with a variety of dances on the ever so melodious songs,  the young performers left the audience enthralled.

Mr. Tripathi, in his address, congratulated the students for exhibiting excellent performance in the CBSE Class X Board Examinations.  He emphasized that teachers play an important role in moulding the personality of the students.  To ensure holistic development of the students,   apart from academics, moral, social and cultural values must be inculcated in the present generation.

Dr. Nandini Choudhury Sen, Member, Managing Committee, DPS Dwarka graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

In her welcome address, Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka, congratulated the proud scholars and said that winners are people who pull themselves out of the crowd and make a habit of going an extra mile. According to her, DIPSITES are winners because they stick to the fight when hardest hit but never quit.

Dr. Sen  in her address, congratulated all the proud awardees for excelling in academic and co-curricular activities. She emphasized that it was a special moment for the students as they were being acknowledged for their hard work.  She presented Scholar badges to the meritorious students and blessed them for a bright future ahead.

CORE 11 & ROBODEX 8

01 & 02 November 2018

DPS Dwarka organized Inter School Computers and Robotics Symposium on 01 & 02 November 2018. The mega event saw participation of more than 350 students from 24 schools across Delhi & NCR.

The inaugural ceremony was marked with the lighting of the lamp by Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal DPS Dwarka. It was followed by an orphic performance by the school band and a video presentation highlighting the achievements of CORE & ROBODEX. 

Jotsaroop Singh, President, CORE and Vyvyaan S. Dogra, President, ROBODEX declared the event open and delineated the efforts of their teams to conceptualize and execute the event to precision.  To put to test the scientific and analytical skills of the students, 13 brainstorming events were organized during the two days. The competitions included programming, crossword, gaming, photography, animation, group discussion, Robowars, Robosoccer, Quiz to name a few.

The event culminated with the felicitation ceremony. Ms. Tanwar, Principal, DPS Dwarka, felicitated the proud winners and congratulated the participants for their zealous endeavours.  DPS Vasant Kunj was adjudged Overall Winners of the event.

In the vote of thanks, Harshit Bhasin, Vice President Core and Sarthak Chauhan, Vice President, Robodex expressed their gratitude to the Principal for her guidance and encouragement.  They extended their heartfelt thanks to all the participating teams for making the event a success.

IGNITE & AXIOM 2018

INTER SCHOOL SCIENCE & MATHEMATICS FEST

25 & 26 OCTOBER 2018

Congregating brilliant minds of scientific prowess and celebrating the true spirit of its discipline, DPS Dwarka organized IGNITE & AXIOM 2018 - The Annual Inter School Science and Mathematics Fest on 25 & 26 October 2018.  The event received an overwhelming response from schools of Delhi & NCR.  Around 900 students participated in this mega event.

The inaugural ceremony was marked with the lighting of the lamp followed Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal DPS Dwarka. An orphic performance by the school band enthralled the audience. This was followed by a video presentation highlighting the efforts put in by each and every member of the four Clubs : FLUX – The Physics Club, IONISTA, The Chemistry Club, GENESIS, the Biology Club and AXIOM – the Maths Club.

Samanyu Mahajan, President, AXIOM along with Shreyas Kaushal & Divyangam Dutta, Presidents, FLUX declared the event open. The two day fest was an amalgamation of thought provoking events which required not only agile thinking but also indepth understanding of scientific principles, mathematical  concepts and their applications.

The event culminated with the felicitation ceremony which was graced by Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal DPS Dwarka.  She appreciated the tenacity and innovative thinking of the members of all the four clubs.  She emphasized that the seniors should train the young aspiring students to carry on the rich legacy. 

The Overall Winners Trophy for IGNITE 2018 was bagged by DPS R.K. Puram and DPS Vasant Kunj was the Runners Up.

DPS Noida was the Overall Winners of AXIOM 2018 followed by DPS Rohini as the Runners Up.

Harshit Bhasin, President, Genesis & Ionista and Divyaspandan Misra, President, Ionista  proposed the vote of thanks. They emphasized that teamwork coupled with immense hard work and creativity was the core principle behind the successful execution of the event.

Alliance of Commerce & Economics – The Commerce and Economics Club of DPS Dwarka organized ACE’18, the second Inter School Commerce & Economics Festival on 23 October 2018. More than 300 students from 17 schools of Delhi & NCR participated in this mega event.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal DPS Dwarka.  An orphic performance by the school band enthralled the audience.  This was followed by a Video highlighting the exciting journey of ACE ’18, from its inception to execution and acknowledging the efforts of all the team members.
The event was declared open by Vedant Madan and Janvi Marwah, Directors ACE.    ACE’18 comprised a myriad of events designed to test the talent, intelligence and rationality of the participants in four major fields : Economics, Marketing, Investment and Quizzing.  The aim of organizing such events is to keep the students abreast with the corporate culture and to prepare them for their professional life.

The event culminated with the prize distribution ceremony which was graced by Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal DPS Dwarka.  The team from DPS Noida was adjudged the winner of ACE’18.

THE DPS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT BOYS (OPEN) 2018

05 – 07 October 2018

Delhi Public School Dwarka hosted The DPS Basketball Tournament for Boys (Open) 2018 from 05 October 2018 to 07 October 2018.  19 Teams of Zone 2 from various Delhi Public Schools participated in this tournament.

The Opening Ceremony was graced by the distinguished guests Dr. D. R. Saini, Director DPS Society, Ms. Sonika Ohlyan, a renowned Basketball player and an alumnus of DPS R. K. Puram and Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal DPS Dwarka.  The programme began with lighting of the lamp followed by a symphonic performance by the School Orchestra.  All the players took an oath to participate in the tournament abiding by the rules and regulations in the true spirit of sportsmanship.

Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal DPS Dwarka, in her address highlighted the benefits of sports as it leads to balanced mental and physical growth.  She further added that sports help in inculcating values such as discipline, dedication and teamwork in children.

Dr. D. R. Saini, Director DPS Society, in his address congratulated Ms. Tanwar for hosting the tournament for the third consecutive year.  He reiterated that holistic development of children is possible only when sports are integrated with academics.  He encouraged the participants to compete in the tournament with utmost zeal and enthusiasm.

In the Closing Ceremony, Ms. Sunita Tanwar, Principal DPS Dwarka felicitated the winners.  The team from DPS R. K. Puram bagged the Winners Trophy.  DPS Faridabad and DPS Vasant Kunj were the First and Second Runners Up respectively.   Akash Singh of DPS Faridabad was adjudged the Player of the Tournament.

SWACHHTA PAKHWADA

The students of DPS Dwarka observed ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’, a cleanliness drive as a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan from 1st to 15th September 2018 with unprecedented fervor and zeal.  A plethora of activities were conducted in the school focusing on the issues and practices of cleanliness.

The drive commenced with the students taking a pledge to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.  As part of the ‘Swachhta Participation Day’ observed on Thursday, 6th September 2018, students presented a skit and a street play generating awareness against littering and highlighted the importance of proper waste disposal.  A poster making competition was also organized and all the posters were exhibited outside the classes to motivate the students to maintain hygiene.

‘National Handwash Day’ was observed on Friday, 7th September 2018 to impress upon the students that they must wash their hands before consuming food and after using washrooms.  Taking ‘Swachh Bharat’ as their theme, the students wrote beautiful poems and speeches.  They read out their self-composed poems and delivered speeches with flair and enthusiasm.

‘Personal Hygiene Day’ was observed on Monday, 10th September 2018.  On this occasion various documentaries were shown to the students to make them understand the importance of personal hygiene and proper waste disposal.  On Tuesday, 11th September 2018, another enriching session was conducted in the school library emphasizing the same.  This was followed by a Slogan Writing Competition.

In today’s world it is imperative for us to understand the need for cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation and this message was emphatically conveyed through the documentaries, plays and interactive sessions conducted in the school.
